Sport rims, what do you think of chrome plating?

I know these are our babies and we can do whatever we wish to them. Heck I have seen some paint jobs I will never understand. :shakes head:

Now from day one I felt that the Sport Z had the best rims I have ever seen on ANY car anywhere. I think they are absolutely beautiful -- but they are a dull nickel color. I was thinking a shiny chrome would be awesome. What do you think, can you see these babies chromed out all shiny?

What would something like that cost? Would I violate any integrity or coatings if I did that? Would one of you steal my Z in the middle of the night our of envy? Or maybe steal it because you'd feel I would no longer deserve it? Has anyone done this or considered it before?

I personally hate chrome wheels.

I would steal your chrome wheels but not out of envy, only to burn it to a pile of steel and leave it at your front door:icon17:

Say no to chrome on sportscars.

It's his car, he's free to dip what he wants, might look horrible and we might all laugh, lol

Chrome is REALLY heavy, you will notice your car is slower. In CA is hard to find a place that will chrome your wheels properly because we have strict laws on the chroming chemicals. Also, if the place does wheels, they will likely tien down Nissan wheels because most places I know (I wanted black chrome done) said that the 350Z wheels had chroming issues that caused the wheels to crack.

All that said, you can do black chrome and find someone who will do it much easier because it is a different process. And if you want to get some bling, I would say do black chrome.

If you decide to have chrome rims, then I will guarantee you that within a year you will have to have the rims re-dipped again.
