Hard Stuttering sound while reversing

Friends , My 2013 Z front tires makes a hard stuttering noise while reversing it during winter. Feels like something is breaking when i reverse it. Any one has the same issue?
I bought it last Sep and when i noticed it in november i took it to the dealer and he told me new cars might do it and it might go away , but it didn't go away. I spent hell lot of money on it and i feel like i drive a junk car every morning when it makes that sound. Please help me understand......

check tire psi. does it make noise going forward while turning?

you have the re050's? if so, they are known to make noise when cold. you should get dedicated winter tires for cold season.

Yes it makes noise going forward also while turning.

I have the manufacturers tires on them, i just bought Bridgestone Blizzak tires need to get them installed. DO you think its the tires that are making the sound? I was always thinking its something with the disk brakes or the front shaft

:iagree:

Get winter tires if not you are going to be hearing that every morning and late afternoon when it is cold.

Did you have this problem too? Hope after installing my new Blizzaks this sound will be gone... You know why those tires make the noice like that?

My OEM RE050s do it too. Weather here does not really warrant winter tires (I'll drive something else if it gets that bad), but I will get all season tires when these are replaced.

I am a little confused on why the tires do this sound , they are just rubber right? the sound i am mentioning is like if you hit a iron rod against another iron rod......

The tires have a very soft compound, and when they are cold, there are also very hard. When the car moves and the wheels are turned, the tires are actually "skidding" on the pavement. Once the tires warm up, the sound goes away and everything is fine. However, be very careful when driving the car when the temp is close to freezing (32°) because they have a tendency to have less traction (tires are still somewhat hard) when going around a corner. This is the reason to install winter tires.

My RE050A made that weird noise when it's wet and cold. After I changed the tires to something else the noise is completely gone. Don't worry about it.

Tad bit of a derail: I found a post at one point that had a sweet list of some decent winter wheels/tires combo for a real good deal. Do you by chance know where it is? I think maybe AK made it, but not sure.

I sure did, I got my Z in the winter last year and had the exact same problem. I lived with it last year this year I just got winter tires.

Get some tire warmers/blankets, like F1 cars have?:icon17:

Good to know. I've been noticing the same thing on my Z. It's garaged at night so not in the morning, but after I get off work at night and drive home. Makes a weird thumping sound that is definitely drive-train related. It goes away quick as it doesn't usually get too cold here in the PNW. Good to know it's the tires. I was planning to mention this to the dealership but I'll stop worrying now.

Yea that noise happens with summer tires if you use them during cold weather. Freaked me out when I first heard it. My blizzaks are nice and quiet once they're on.
