Tires for everyday driving???

So I've read through almost every thread in 'Wheels and Tires', I just need what is the best bang for the buck for tires for daily driving, I'm not racing the car. Just looking for what the general favorites are for tires. I have a 2010 370Z Touring, 18's stock rims, everything on the car is stock. Bought the car with Sumitomo HTRZIII Brand on them. The original owner put these on when he first got the car new, the car is now is at 30k miles. Should I just replace with the same, which I'm fine with. But I'd thought I'd research some options first. I live in Phoenix, AZ so anything recommended for the hot weather here. Thanks for anyone that responds back, much appreciated. Need new tires ASAP!

I have the HTR z3, at 300utg no surprise they lasted 30k. Not the best tire because its not sticky enough but for a DD longevity and price you can't beat it.

search! continental extremecontact DW or DWS are good choices. the DWS will last longer, and much less aggressive than the DW

perfect answer

if you have extra cash, go for the S04's. they are better all round, except for the added weight.. but for dd'ing no issue.

i run strictly DW's and S04's now...well, other than the remaining yok on my nismo wheels which are going to be replaced soon.

Not perfect for me. That's a lot more money for no benefit. I've run all 3. Performance and money HTR Z3 wins. Unless you go to a RE11 type of tire for performance I see no reason to spend more.

for you dd'ers that might be fine.

RE11's appear to have a rubber memory (flat spot) issue from the read. my z only goes out on sunny weekends so that's going to be an issue. if tirerack's going to keep them in-stock instead of the BS that's been going on for the last year of 'yes we will carry' 'no they are discontinued' 'oh wait, we haz more' 'f- they are now discountinued' ' or not' i would get them wrapped on my weds next time around.

Pilot Super Sport by Michelin 300 treadwear. Great tire with impressive performance and durability.

i also read this tire has a notorious rubber memory issue... on a dd that might be fine though.

No issues for me with that. 300 treadwear is a pretty high number for a performance tire.

kenchan 12-16-2013 02:53 PM

sounds good. yah, 300 is high, i wonder wat kind of milage people are getting in real world use.

but it appears the audience for this thread is looking for cheap tires... tire that are minimum acceptable on a sports car.

For a DD that's not expected to see any serious performace driving, the PSS and RE-11 are a bit overkill and costly.

The Conti DW could almost fit into that range as well...

I'd say look into the Hankook v12 if you wanted an affordable option.

If you were going to stick with bridgestone, forget the stock re050s and go with the S04's as mentioned above.

<- Spent 6 years in AZ too. :tiphat:

V12 would be a good choice on price.
