For a DD that's not expected to see any serious performace driving, the PSS and RE-11 are a bit overkill and costly.

The Conti DW could almost fit into that range as well...

I'd say look into the Hankook v12 if you wanted an affordable option.

If you were going to stick with bridgestone, forget the stock re050s and go with the S04's as mentioned above.

<- Spent 6 years in AZ too. :tiphat:

:hello: Hi Casper!!!!

Amen, everyone is all over the :nutswinger: of RE-11's but it is completely overkill

I run Potenza RE760's now on the Z, more than capable

Err. Yeah, I thought they were 255s in the front to maintain the same stagger as base since its essentially the same wheelbase.

i mean you can run 255/40 if you want. the sidewall height difference is only 4mm.

HTR z3 still out performs it and is still cheaper. For a max summer tire you can't beat the price and performance of this tire. If you want more you're going to pay a lot more money and lose longevity.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm gonna go w/ the HTR Z3, for the price seems it cant be beat, and if I did go with the DW's for pricing, will I notice a difference driving? I do drive aggressively every now and then, but other than that its my everyday car.

235/50 18
245/45 18

kenchan 12-17-2013 12:56 PM

ive not driven the HTR Z3 so can't tell, and at those widths even DW's arent going to stick very well. :icon17: hahaha

I drove 20k on the DW and 5k on the z3. I haven't noticed much which is good since the DW was a AWD WRX and the z3 is the 370z. Of course I can burn out and drift easier with RWD but fast aggressive street driving they were both good and I'm sure the 370z could keep up with the WRX. Only complaint I have is drag racing. The Z3 does not launch well but hey, its a 300utg tire.

Those tires don't look right. I'd go bigger.

EDIT:, yeah wrong choice. That's 0.6" difference, to much in my book. Keep it under 0.5".

Safely you can go 20% over your width of the wheel. I'd go 245/275 unless you want more square for performance, then maybe a 255 or 265 rear tire. But 245 is max on the front and 275 max on the rear.

I'd get a 245/40/18, 265/35/18 or 275/35/18.

Not sure what you're basing that off of??

From TireRack: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP

Quote:

1. Michelin Pilot Super Sport ( )
2. Bridgestone S04 Pole Position (Good cheaper alternative to the PSS)
~
11. Hankook V12
12. Continental SportContact 3 (A good comparo to the Conti DW?)
~
15. Sumitomo HTR ZIII
Sumitomo HTR ZIII - $750 for OEM sized set
Hankook V12 - $774 for OEM sized set

So the price is marginally different.

kenchan 12-17-2013 01:53 PM

just to let you know, i had tirerack install new S04's a couple of weeks ago in 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 sizes on my G's new CV201's... and with labor and tax included, only came out to 946. and i get a 50 gift card from bridgestone, so i pay 896.
