Someone stoled my wheels, I was staying over at my girlfriends place in hillcrest (Hollywood, fl) it's an elderly community. The front of the nismo wheels had the BG goodrich kdw's 245/45/19 and the backs had 285/35/19 Kumho spts.

With all the wheel thefts, I'm waiting for the day I see staggered nismos/sp wheels on a mustang. Or worse, mexiflushed on a truck.

OMGWTFBBQ 11-20-2013 10:00 AM

... Dude. Not to add insult to injury.. but did they try to steal your Nismo emblem too? Are the letters "N" and "O" missing?

I. FCUKING. HATE. THIEVES. Goes to show you just can't work your @$$ off to have nice things because of all the damn haters out there.

Jasonle 11-20-2013 10:11 AM

Yea unfortunately they tried to remove the letters...

Just came back from the dealership, at first the tow truck guy arrived with a different type of replacements to the scene. He had to go back to the dealership to get the wheels mounted off the only showroom nismo.

mag_black 11-20-2013 09:25 PM

Sorry man.

To shine a light, you will get a nice amount from insurance.

Super Werty 11-20-2013 09:25 PM

check the lug nuts for finger prints?

Grindkiezer 11-20-2013 09:32 PM

Did you have wheel locks? I know they aren't fool proof but I'm interested to see if they beat them

Wonka2581 11-20-2013 09:34 PM

Holly f*** that sucks ***! they need to die... hope it all works out for you.

No :(
Don't have wheel locks, I bought the gorilla locks from sfx performance after getting off the phone with the officer and insurance company.
Supposedly they don't even have the key for their bolt patterns.
Pretty expensive...

Z-Girl 12 11-20-2013 09:52 PM

so sucks, sorry to hear

Waiz 11-20-2013 09:53 PM

Wow, not again :(

Riptide67 11-20-2013 09:57 PM

Damn man, sorry to see this. At least you now have a fresh set and locking lugs on the way!

::fingers crossed:: the guy at the dealership is telling me it's going to take a while for me to get the nismo wheels

zeeder 11-20-2013 10:05 PM

Man that blows! At least insurance will take care of it.

There gone! No one resells them. Crack heads would rather get $8 a pound from the salvage yard then resell a $500 wheel. I bet money these wheels like everyone else are already melted into a solid block.

We can't use wheel locks. No one makes one that will fit a OEM wheel.

Those will not work. If you install them it will only be a matter of time before all 4 wheels snap off and you're driving down the road on rotors, or worse it kills you!

See the difference? You need a massive washer to make flat contact with the wheel surface. We cant use acorn style lugs if that's what you bought. The pic below is a snapped lug from this site using a wheel lock from nissan.

Wow insane, and I really like the girl. Supposedly this place has been getting hit, I'm the 3rd car in the past few months from what the tenants tell me. I can't risk going through this again, any suggestions? Nismo car cover? Good alarm system?

Enterprise gave me a impala, ugh...

Lol stay with it then. Did the company you bought from say they were for nissan? Have to received them yet? I'd wait and see what you got. They might fit and work if they have the washer but everyone finds a way! The guy I sold my OEMs to was from New York City. He's had 3-4 sets stolen right outside his bedroom window with all different kinds of locks etc etc. you don't need the key if you have a bolt/nut removal tool/extractor. Staying up with a gun is your only 100% way.

Sorry for your loss OP, but be happy as all hell!!!

You can buy almost ANY set of wheels now that insurance will pay out. Get yourself some nice light TE37SLs with Michelin PSS's!!!

WOW, never heard of a dealer doing that. Awesome. And what morons... Any 370Z wheel fits, lol

:icon18: $4000 theft doesn't really warrant a fingerprint expert to come in. My house was burglarized and they took $100k worth of stuff, INCLUDING guns, (one being a Desert Eagle) and there were GORGEOUS prints on the buttstock of a shotgun... They wouldn't take prints off the wood because the burglary wasn't big enough.

And you'd be REALLY surprised... The amount of stuff they can take fingerprints from is about 0... Woman spent... 8 hours in my home... Got 4 prints... Only 2 were full...

Oh, I forgot, there was blood on the window that they entered... Didn't give half a shite.

If you use the Gorilla locks, your wheels/studs will break or come loose. Return them. You CANNOT USE ANYTHING BUT OEM ON OEM WHEELS. Do NOT put yourself in danger for something stupid like wheels locks.
Lastly, they don't need a key. 3 ways of beating the system:
1) they use a universal socket (has little pins that let it attach to any shape, I'll google one in a bit
2) they put a bigger socket on your lugs, beat it on tight and twist off
And if all else fails...
3) They come back the next day with a flatbed and jack the whole car.

Post #4 of my journal thread.

After reading about the stolen wheels in another thread. I went back to the dealer and bought the McGard locking lug nuts. Part number #999W2-JT000 for $59.00. I also read the threads about the wrong locking lug nuts being used. The reason why those locking lug nut heads broke off is. The the wheel stud pushed through the top of the nut before the cone section of the nut touched the wheel. I've seen it before. And being for two different style of wheel holes.

... You know... He implies AFTERMARKET... Right?

You could upgrade your alarm and get a tilt sensor. Like this:
Digital Tilt Motion Sensor

Well he said OEM wheels, I read it as no one (aftermarket wise) makes lugs for the OEM wheels.

Now, I know McGard makes the locks, but I consider those as OEM locks

My bad brother! :tiphat:

Full of sh!t for lack of updated knowledge? My bad :ugh2:. Nice to see it only took nissan 3 years to make these while others have had the original nissan locking lugs snap like I posted in the pic. In fact probably took even longer than 3 years if the 350z uses the same style of wheel/lug connection. Praise be to nissan for getting on the ball :bowrofl:. Hey at least SPL isn't as slow now as we waited only 4-5 years for front arms from them. Makes me feel good the Z has such a strong f****** support!! :shakes head:

... NOW you're wrong brother... The correct lugs have been out since 2009-ish. The dealers who installed the acorn style were just morons...

You were right about the water leak on my car, lol
And thanks

You sure? Lotta threads on it which means all dealers were installing the wrong lugs. Glad there's a fix though.

O good! PITA what a $15 seal can cause but glad you found it. My ecu and wires and connectors all got wet. Glad I didn't blow anything and hope you dried it all out real good before start up.

I'm 99.9999% sure, my '09 had the correct lugs because the dealer wasn't retarded. It just takes a few HARD drivers to cause one to break. And for the shít to hit the fan...

And yeah, went to the dealer, he put some 3M almost denture sealant stuff and pressed it down, presto change-o, worked well, rained like a SOB and not a damn drop of water in the car.

Fortunately in my car the water didn't really go into the stupid wiring plug thingy, just dropped straight down, and I took every picoliter of water out of that bítch

They are retarded, that's for sure. My old boss hired his son-in-law to be the service writer! No clue about anything. Every tech was just a kid or guy fresh out of school or off the street that could turn a wrench. Always one guy at least with 10-20 years though but he can't do all the dealers work.

mikey1600 11-21-2013 04:36 AM

damn sorry to hear, can only imagine what it would be like to come out and see that!! as someone else said, it sucks but you will get a payout from insurance and can buy aftermarkets if you wanted a different look :) (I know, try to turn a positive out of anything!) Hopefully nothing else is damaged by the way they dropped it.

i also recommend you folks parking out doors get a tilt sensor. wheel locks slow theives down, but they are pretty easy to remove.

ZLady 11-21-2013 10:40 AM

Sorry about your wheels... this has been an ongoing problem in our area... All higher end cars have been targeted. We even had the police come around in our neighborhood and warn us because we had the vehicles being targeted. Defiantly looking to get the tilt sensor in next week. Luckily there are a lot of places in south Florida. Good luck.

mytoyo2k1 11-24-2013 04:46 PM

So my insurance company approved and cut the check with my name and the dealers in the pay to section. my question is the following, if in the estimate the dealer put Yokohamas but I prefer the bf goodrich is that going to be a problem?

fitxpert 11-24-2013 05:29 PM

Sucks man... They probably dented your rocker panels too with the bricks. I've had to get mine fixed because the dealership's techs don't watch their liftpoints.

I effing hate thieves...and jealous fools. I hope they're caught man.

We had an identity theft at our office, they broke into the mailbox and stole some paperwork and eventually started writing themselves checks and buying stuff at best buy. Anyways, we hired a private investigator and he found prints on our mailbox and identified the theives, who we later caught. They are still in prison:tup: meth addicts

makes zero sense to melt down a wheel. aluminum is less than a dollar a pound, not 8
