Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Alright time for a review of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports after 11.5k miles. The tires do very well on the dry pavement, in the rain not so much. The rears are basically bald after 11,500 miles which to me seems a bit on the short side considering I never took the car to the track. I attribute the short life of the rear tires to spirited driving and driving during colder temperatures (less than 40 F, no driving in the snow of course). My original Advans (18" wheels) lasted about 16,500 miles which is about what I expected from a summer tire.

Great tire but I expect a longer tread life plain and simple. Will try a Continental or Bridgestone next to see if they are any better. Recommendations are welcome.

11,500 miles=18,500km...that's very short life,maybe you did too many "Jack-Rabbit" starts...My rear stock Bridgestone...still got 50% left,now 22,500Km.

Pilot Super Sports are GREAT for autoX and track (not r-comps though), not the tire to get for the street.

You will chunk then if you drive them hard

Continental DW's are smooth and amazing on and off the track!! On a side note...with driving temps in the low 40's you might just have to step up to an all season. Summer tires are poor to say the least in freezing conditions. Continental DWS's may do you wonders!!

What would you recommend for the street?

My Potenza pole position S-04's do great. Crazy dry traction, and they do pretty well in the rain. Def would try these out or at least look them up. Tread life is great too, if you dont mash the throttle everytime you drive that is.

I'd say Ventus V12 are great for street. They are fairly grippy, last a while if you don't abuse them, and are cheaper than the competition

I run vredestein ultrac sessanta's awesome dry traction. Really good in the rain. Have 10k on the rears and around 5/32 left. Keep in mind Im boosted and see pretty aggressive acceleration/high speed often.
