Default Thoughts on a square 275 setup on the stock Rays

Hey everyone - I did plenty of searching and wasn't able to come up with any good info on running square setups on the stock 19" rays (maybe with good reason? hah). I've been getting into auto-x and also have a few road course events planned. I was initially looking into getting a set of Enkei RPF1's in 18x10 square with 285's but I'm just exploring other options as of now. I know the AD08's, RE11's, and the Direzza II's come in 275/35-19. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone used the new star spec II's? They're about $150-200 cheaper for a set of 4 compared to the other two tires. Any input is welcome - thanks.

I just bought a set of 275/30/19 RE-11's for 280 each tire and mounted them on the stock Nismo rims. Just got back from track and I loved the tires and square setup. I know it's not exactly what your question is about, but thought I'd share.

Just had my set up done. Running 285/35/18 square set up on enkei 18x10.5 nt03's

You'll need a arms up front to accommodate for the wheel size and camber.

I used a 1" spacer in the rear.

Id send photos but it looks like the proto type Robispec a arms on my car are possibly going to be made and offered on a bigger scale, so its back up at robi's for him to dial some stuff in and get me my car back tuesday next week.

The car handles incredibly well. I can flick the car all over the track. I just need to calm down and drive a better line.

Haha I hear that matcop... I did VERY well with my first two Auto-x events, placed 3rd and 1st in a novice group of almost 20 people. Problem is that I'm still not driving smoothly and it seems like I'm on sensory overload when throwing this thing around the track. I'll have to dial it back a tad and try to keep better lines.

That was still helpful to know you enjoyed the feel of them DLo - are the Nismo rims 9.5in wide up front, or 9? I think 275 is kind of pushing the limits of a 9 inch wide rim.
matcop likes this.

I think the size of the Nismo rims are 19x9.5 +25 19x10.5 +3. Don't quote me on it though...

I run 295/40-18s on 9.5" rims with no problem. a 275 would work on a 9

Thank you for posting that. I was just starting to look at options for a square setup in 18".

18x10 is a bad choice because of the offset. You'll need spacers for both deleting the purpose of the rpf1. The rear is a perfect fit with the 10.5 +15! Now the front you'll need a 9.5". +15 is going to stick out pretty far past the fender so I'd get the +38 or +45. If you go +45 you'll need a 15-20mm spacer. If you go +38 you'll need a 10-15mm. With a 9.5" wheel you can go max 285 so your wheels don't have to be square anyways.

Depending on that I'm not sure if you can do a 285 up front. Pretty sure a 275 is no problem. I'm inerested to know because I want square now too. At the moment I have a 285/255. If I can't do 285 then ill do 285/275, close enough.

Also look into the nitto nt01

I run 18x10.5+30 square and 285/35/18 and use a 20mm spacer in the rear.

Pics? What's your front camber setting? My 9.5+25 at -0.5 and -0.9 is sticking out past the fender about 1/4" at the very top. And that's only with a 255 tire. I want square so from what you're saying I can add the front 285's but I'm going too need a lot of camber to keep it tucked in.

Thanks for all your input guys. So far I'm still kind of stuck. Looking into what I can get a set of RPF1's or NT03's for. Kind of do want a dedicated set of track rims. I just need to bite the bullet and spend the money on it.

on my fronts, the 295s fit on a 9.5 +46 wheel, with a 5 mm spacer to keep them from contacting the spindle on the inside. I run -2.9 camber though.

FYI my nt03 w enkei 18x10.5 square was under $1300 shipped!' Just make sure u get a good deal. I run -3.2 camber up front and -2.8 rear with plenty of space upfront and rear this wheel setup is best +30 offset and run a rear spacer. Then you can rotate wheels and tires. Running directional tires backwards is fine it will run the same times forwards or backwards just watch out if it rains.

Last picture is 275/35/19 square on stock rays

Dear lord. How does the tire not contact anything? Guess I need to measure better. Right now I'm +25 with only a 255 at -0.5 and it seem pretty close to the inside.
