Drilling a bolt pattern.

There is a set of wheels I am considering and the manufacturer is currently not making the front wheel in the 5x114.3 bolt pattern (they do for the rear wheel).

They are saying that they will re-drill a 5x112 wheel to the desired bolt pattern.

Is that a good idea? Are there any safety issues? They are saying that if it was unsafe, they would not offer the option to me.

If you're not comfortable with the process, look into custom wheel adapters, they're like spacers but will also allow you to fit different bolt pattern wheels across any cars.

If they are willing to re-drill a finished wheel, why wouldn't they just drill a "blank" to your specs?

Redrilling wheels the proper way with a steel insert would be no problem at all, with the proper hubcentric rings you should avoid any vibration issues as well. Alot of 5x112 cars take a high offset rather than what the Z can fit tho. I would double check fitment and go for it if the deal is worth it.

Yep, the OP was saying he was considering redrilling 5x112 wheels. Most Audi/Mercedes fitment (5x112) is a bit weaker. Regardless, when done properly I think redrilling is a viable option rather than a 15mm spacer aesthetically.

Yup, I've came across a few guys that had to redrilled their wheels and seem to holding up just fine, but they don't track their cars or do any hard driving so who knows, just make sure it's done by reputable shop.

And knowing most German cars have weak offsets so really depending on the wheels he's going for the adapters may be a good option.

I am looking at two options.

1. Vossen CV2's which are plug and play.
2. Gianelle Yerevan Lightweights - these are the ones need to be drilled.

cv2's are ones i was thinking about getting on my G35C... but they are heavy a hell. like 30lbs

so i need to find light weight tires to run them. cheap i found was sumi htrzIII's in G's size. i dont care about high performance on the G as it's my summer dd and mostly dressup car.

20x9 +25 (These are the ones that need to be re drilled) or 20x8.5 +35 (available in 5x114.3)

Rear

20x10.5 +25 (available in 5x114.3)

I have no idea the weight of the Yerevan. I think they are two piece.

I'd go with the 20x9 and redrill since they offer that to you at no extra charge. what size tires are you going with? 255 & 285?
