Wheel Trade Opinion
I have a 2013 370Z with the 19" Sports package rims. I was thinking about changing up the setup and came upon a listing on craigslist for a set of xxr 527 rims. They are as states:
18x10 et 20 on all 4 225/40/18 falken ziex 912 I like the idea of a square setup, as I had that setup on a 350Z and enjoyed it. My issues are that the tires are a bit narrow and not sure how much money he should throw on top. Thoughts? |

The tires are WAY too narrow. Stretching tires like that is just retarded. You can run a 275-305 on a 10" wheel, and he's running a 225? He should throw in enough cash for a set of properly fitting tires, or you should keep looking for new wheels.

I thought it was pretty well established that the Webster's definition for hellaflush was "completely retarded".

I like the flush look myself. Im more concerned with how it will perform. there is also an option to buy the rims outright, which is what Im considering more at this point.

It will perform terribly. Not even getting into the significant safety issue of stretching a tire that narrow over a 10" wheel, you'll have less rubber on the ground than the non-sport package guys get with the base wheels. You don't want those tires. Buy the wheels outright, and put an appropriately sized tire on them. Hellaflush/stretched tires is absolutely terrible from a handling standpoint.

My intelligence was questioned by the seller when I told him 225 was a nit too narrow. I was told, I must not know cars much. I cant believe I actually had to think about this. It all seemed pretty obvious to me. Thanks for your input.
The rims themselves seem like they would look pretty nice and the offsets are great for the square setup I would be looking for. Im going to do some tire research for these I guess. |

Don't take any comments made by idiots personally. Just smile and walk away. There's no changing someone's mind if they're dumb enough to run a 225 on a 10" wheel. They aren't capable of understanding why that's retarded.

Those wheels are cheap, if youre gonna go cheap, at least get something that looks better and is at least 19". Dont forget your Rays are forged, strong, and light as sh1t. I went from Rays to cast wheels and the weight bugs me every day, but i needed to go wider.

I can see the change to 18s from a tire cost and selection standpoint. I'm not a fan of XXRs in general. They're definitely a downgrade from the Rays in terms of weight and strength. If I were looking to run a square setup I'd find a pair of rear sport wheels and run them in front.

He better be adding at the very least $500 cash on top of the trade.
Just FYI, A set of (4) XXR rims cost $600 NEW. I think a decent set of 2013 sport rays goes for about $110-1300 USED.
