RE-11 19" discontinued

So i just "chatted" with a Tirerack rep who confirmed that the RE-11's have been discontinued in the 19" size. WTF am i supposed to get now? :shakes head:

enkei2k 07-18-2013 04:29 PM

I'm confused now. Are they or are they not discontinued?

Earlier, they said that it wasn't discontinued. Even on their website shows it's still available now...

Link to member who said the RE-11's are just being 'revised'

A different tire.

Osiris 07-18-2013 04:34 PM

i'm literally chatting with the rep as i type this and he's telling me they were "just" discontinued in 19"...and the other sizes are on their way out being replaced by RE-11A's (which aren't offered in 19" right now)

kenchan 07-18-2013 04:37 PM

yah, you see, that's wat i meant. one guy say 'its here to stay!' then another guy at the same damn store says 'its no longer available!'

so i said f-k it, and bought DW's to run on my WEDS. lol :D i will probably get PSS next time around for my nismo wheels since they are now offered in 285/35/19 for the rear.

well, the RE-11A's should be available next time you need new tires  What are DW's?

:icon17: i hope so.

DW's are continentals. they're not bad, but not at the level of RE11's.

The Hankook R-S3 and Yokohama Neova AD08 are being discontinued as well. You can get them on discount right now for a deal. But the Dunlop Direzza ZII are priced very competively and are the top rated tire currently on the market in the segment. At least until next year when Bridgestone and Yokohama release the updated tires in 19" sizes.

derraj06 07-18-2013 07:48 PM

I just had a set of RE-11s installed. My discount tire shop bought them from tire rack.

18's.

19" tires and wheels are the worst to buy, find, fit, pay for etc. Good riddens I say.

I see no point to shell out so much for a re-11 to only burn it up and need more down the road when 18's are lighter, cost less, and fit even big brake kits. I mean a re-11 is strictly a performace tire so why kill some of that going 19" when 18's are better all around? If you're gonna throw money away get racing 18's and keep your stock 19's with just some cheap summer tire that lasts 50,000 miles. In the end you'll come out ahead.

Last time I checked there are legit performance cars running 19's. 305/30/19 is run on all fours in the new Z28. Not every one of us is serious enough to buy a second set of wheels for an occasional track day. I disagree with your assessment but understand your argument. I live in the desert. It rarely rains and has one season, here an extreme performance tire makes sense, from safety and performance perspective.

Alstann 07-18-2013 10:37 PM

I just ordered my set of RE-11 not one week ago. Thank god I got em!

chrischhorn 07-18-2013 10:49 PM

Doesn't matter. You're still paying more for an odd size tire vs. the millions of cars that don't run 19's. 18's are great and most of the domestic market runs 20's. hence then cheaper price. If I lived where u do, i too would run that tire year round. But with a 200 rating at $300 plus per tire...it wouldn't be a 19".

1. the car came with 19's
2. I purchased after market wheels that cost $3900
3. I'm not going to spend another $3900 on wheels just so i can buy 18" tires
4. I don't mind throwing away a little money......because race car!

kenchan 07-19-2013 09:52 AM

honestly 19's look better than 18's on this car.

especially if one's running darker colored wheels with spokes that do not extend to the lip of the rim (like TE37 type, etc), wheels would look too small.

comparing my 19 SA55M's in gunmetal to my 19 Nismo wheels, the WEDS appear considerably smaller even though the spokes reach the lip.

YamahaR6 07-19-2013 10:45 AM

Why so much attention to RE-11s?

The Dunlop Z2 are just as good (might even have better grip).

Unless you plan to upsize to 285 or 305.

kenchan 07-19-2013 10:45 AM

ewww, wat's that on your splash guard? :ugh2:

our cars like a-symetrical tires for the reinforced inner belts.

YamahaR6 07-19-2013 10:52 AM

that's the 3M film started to peel....
