Patch or Replace?
Is this too close to the sidewall to patch? The guy at the local tire place said it was borderline and was afraid to do the repair since I made it very clear that the wheel is flawless and wanted it to remain that way. I wasn't sure if I should take it someplace else or just order another one. Also, this is a Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position with around 4K miles. Thank you in advance for the feedback.

I guess it depends on how you drive it. Daily driver? Plug and patch. If you're racing or greatly exceeding the speed limit, replace it. It'd be hell if it blew out while you're doing 150 mph. You'd roll right on into the next life.

Patch it... Him saying he's afraid is his way of wanting you to sell a new tire

I'm definitely going to try to get this patched...hopefully there are no hidden surprises when they separate it from the rim. Thank you for all of the feedback!

When they take it off, if they say its ok, say perfect. OR, say, please tell me if its not patchable BEFORE you do anything. I say this because I said that to the pricks at American Tire Co, they said it was patchable THEN took the screw out THEN said, "yeahhhhhh, the screw went in sideways and we can't patch it" (BS at its best) then I said, "ok, put it back on, I'll take it somewhere else" "Sorry sir... We took the screw out and can't patch it... You need a new tire" "Good, better be a free tire, because I don't have the money, you said you could patch it and I TOLD you not to mess with it if you couldn't patch it" "Well our manager can give you a good deal on a new or used tire" "Yeah, free, I didn't tell you to take the screw out, you're putting a tire on for free" 3 min later, my tire was patched, I told the other guy who patched it if it was a legit and clean patch, he said it was easy and 100% fine... I tipped him $10 and the tire did well until the car took a swim.

Tell him you have a tire warranty and that the replacement will be free.
You will see how quickly the location of the nail is no longer an issue.

Tire Repair Shop
This is a longshot, but does anyone have any recommendations for a tire repair shop in the King of Prussia/Wayne, PA area or Lansdale, PA area? I am looking for a place that can do it without scratching or gouging the wheel, which seems to be a rarity.

patching would be fine, i removed a good 3 inch sharp metal shard from my rear tire and around the same area. No problems at all, luckily i didn't have to throw a good $200 to waste .
