Though I will qualify with: it depends on how much track (I would think you could wear tires out completely in short order at the track). I happen to have precisely this experience this week, as I drove my Z at COTA last weekend. My Z is my DD and had never seen track previously. My Nitto Invos aren't any different other than maybe being about 2/32 less tread than before the track. Having been through more than one pair of these same tires, I can affirm that their performance has not been altered from what I would expect for their current tread depth. I should have gotten an alignment prior to the track, but I didn't (so it's been 3-4 months since my last one). I went ahead and got one on Wednesday and found everything to be fine except for my rear toe. The front was also barely within tolerance. No issues whatsoever (except that I need an oil cooler if I want to do any sort of sustained track event )

False (for me).
I think it truly depends though. Track condition, road hazards and driving skill all come into play. Spend a lot of time on the curb/shoulder/edge and your gonna chew up the outsides, causing a different feel back on the regular road. After I took 1 run on the track in South Carolina however, my tires (characteristically) were the same.

Not true for street compound tires even the sticky ones in my experience.

To elaborate more, I think the key question is whether tire compound changes/deteriorates if the tire is being heated past its operating temperature, to the point that the compound no longer grips the same way even after it has been cooled down.

I can't tell any difference. I drove the car a lot faster in my 2nd track session than the 1st but the tires still feel good on the street daily driving. I credit the sway bars with allowing me to go faster (or feel confident enough to do so). I would assume I could do another 2 track sessions for a total of 4 track days before thinking about new tires but rememember my fast is a person who has done 2 track events only so I'm probably not stressing my tires all that much yet.
