HELP - Hankook V12s are TOO LOUD!
After doing a bunch of research, mainly here on the forum, I got a set of Hankook V12s for my stock '11 Sport Package. One of the main reasons I went with them was because of the lower road noise.
6 months later, and the hum they are producing is really getting out of control. They ware WAY louder than my original stock tires, and seem to be getting worse. Still tons of tread and I can't argue with the handling, but man, they are just so loud. Any suggestions for quieting them down? Thanks. |
Turn up the radio

Keep the engine at WOT and 5K+ RPMs... if you go around a lot of turns like this, it has the added benefit of wearing the tires out faster so you can replace them with something that is quieter. I am happy with my Nitto Invos, but noise reduction wasn't a factor in my decision.

If the car is quiet you're doing something wrong ;)

:iagree: they're local to Austin, too  (actually in Hutto)
|
I also have the hankooks and hate them
My Yokohama advans come in Monday :) |
Interesting.... so this helps with front tire noise? Is it a significant reduction?
|
i'm a little surprised by this. the hankooks are quiet for me. the re050s were way louder than the v12s i have right now. i'd say definitely go for some soundproofing liner.

i always thought hankooks were quieter?
if you wanna hear loud.... try the bf goorich KDW's they are loud as hell |
I think the Hankooks are quieter than the Conti DW. My front ones are roaring after barely a year.

v12's are non asymmetrical so they will wear on an angle more than the stock tires probably. asymmetrical tires usually have reinforcements on the inner tread to support cars with lots of negative camber like our Z's. my advans have about 3/32-4/32 right now on the inner treads and they're not loud at all. my suspension is stock (factory alignment as well). S04's are also quiet so far on my G. about 6/32. |
Radio, sound deadened, or Invo's.
I have a pair for sale if you want to try em. |
kenchan which advans do you have?
