Sport Rim Clear Coat?

I was wondering if anyone with sport rims are experiencing clear coat peeling from their rims. My car is garage kept and literally driven less than maybe 5% of the month since I work from home...if that. I don't know if the previous owner put a film like 3m to protect them or if this is just usual wear and tear. Any others have this happen?

Couldn't find anything about clear coat peeling, only the black stain marks on rims.

I just noticed this a week ago. Yup, just the clear coat is peeling/cracking at the spokes of the rim.

I had this exact thing happen to my 06 350z and the dealer agreed to have them refinished. The local company that refinished them put an extra coat of clear on them. I never had the issue again. The dealer said it was because they had too thin of a clear coat from the factory.

My drivers rear has the paint peeling from it. It bubbles up then comes off. Its the only wheel doing it. I have not used any chemicals on it other than standard car wash soap. Need to see if the dealer will replace it under warranty or get it re finished.

had the same issue and had it covered under warrantee no questions asked.

This sounds bad... But im happy to hear others have expeirenced this. Only meaning its not just my rims or my lack of car care. I have 100K full bumper to bumper warranty do you think the dealership will fix this?

Can we get some pics?

What do you normally use to clean your wheels?

JrumMusic 05-26-2013 11:46 AM

I just use water and soap when im washing it, But when I dirt spots or stuff I use the product below. It seems to my rear rims with most of the damage, the front rims are in great condition.

Wow that sucks, if you're still under warranty I would try to get Nissan to pay for a repair

Otherwise, I would get a wheel repairer to reclear them, should be around $75-$100 a wheel
