Ideal Dragon Carvers?
Hey guys and girls, I need some input so I'm hoping to come to some consensus here from ya'll. I just got back from ZDayZ and here's my situation. Prior to my leaving (a 400+ mile trip) my tires (Hankook Ventus V12 Evos), front and rear, were both in excellent condition. Upon arrival they were still very much in great condition.
We did a lot of driving and the tires handled everything masterfully without much wear, though clearly the turns did begin to dig in...but it wasn't until I hit the Dragon that things got bad. We got back and the insides of both rear tires were basically gone. I saw another car that had V12s that had been on the Dragon and his tires were still nearly pristine. Now I grant you, I don't know how new his tires were or how aggressively he drove it; but I can tell you that I went light the first time as I was new to it...and tested the car near it's limits (which it handled with precision, flair and confidence) on the run back. My friend suggested that I have camber realigned down about 1 negative degree when I get my new tires, but I'm not sure that could be the cause of so much erosion. So all that being said, has anyone else had any similar experiences with these tires, can recommend any others more capable of better handling aggressive driving on hard corners, or any other input? Thanks in advance! I intend on doing this again next year and I want to be better prepared so I can get more runs in.

I haven't V12's but I've done a lot of hard driving on the Dragon and similar roads on the stock Potenzas and the Pilot Super Sports. Potenzas lasted me from 7500-12000 miles on the odo and the pilots have been holding up from then onto 17000 miles very well. I keep reading about how the V12s arent really good for hard driving despite being good for the price. The PSS have been rated to have pretty good wear on the track.
I do think a lot of it has to do with camber though. Getting it near factory settings should result in pretty even wear during aggressive driving.

agreed on checking the toe.
As for tires. Most of my positive experiences have been with r888s and re11s (i think they just came out with a "new" re11). PSS is always a good option of course |

from wat i see, the RE11A's (new) do not come in our 19" size if that's wat you're referring to. tirerack has not gotten back to me on a yes/no if RE11's were discontinued in our size.

They aren't. I just ordered a set for a member here at Costco for his 350z thats running on 370z Sport wheels. Re-11's will not be discontinued unless the RE-11a is made in that size to replace it.

I'll have my shop check the toe as well as the camber, and make sure everything is up to spec. Seeing as how I'm home for the next year I'll stick with the Hankooks since they've proven to perform admirably for my needs here, and the price is hart to beat...and I'll order a set of the PSS (since I keep reading about people raving over them) in time for next year's event. Thanks!
