for me nothing changed except for the tires, running very close to stock alignment specs, with a little more camber in the front just due to lowering of the swifts. Im on swifts and konis btw, which handles better than many budget coils in my opinion...I just do not see the value in this tire for its performance level, that is my overall point.

I had the RS3's and then the PSS's and I can tell in the sidewall flex and the responsiveness in the steering feedback that the PSS's are a better tire. The RS3's where nice once you felt the car slide it it's rut like hooking on to a rail, then it was point n' shoot. The pss there was very minimal feedback and instant response in the turn.

only other tires I acutally ran in that category on this car were the s-04, which I was going to buy, but between the forum and the reviews, I went with the PSS. If you do not care about tread life, re-11's no doubt. I do not know if they make them in our size, but my buddy has star specs on his rx8, and those were fantastic. I can tell you I would also be satified with KDW's in comparision to the PSS(ran them on the 350z), regardless of what reviews say, it is a sticky tire and it performs well, a guy at work runs auto cross with it and does quite well on it, enough so he is buying another set.

Update. I've had the tires on a week now and hands down they are better than the stock advans that come on the NISMO. I have no problem with feedback, steering sensitivity, or response. They are far sticker than the stockers for sure. I don't notice any rolling of the sidewall on aggressive turns either. They are also much quieter, smoother, and absorb a little more of the road bumps compared to the advans. Overall I'm happy with them. I think in order for me to be 100% happy with the traction of the car I will have to get a true LSD to replace the crap VLSD that comes on the car.
RE-11's are a good option and honestly what I was going to go for but the front tires are not rated (with regard to weight) for the NISMO. I tried multiple tire places and they all said they wouldn't be able to mount them for me. Why Nissan rated the front of the NISMO heavier than the regular 370z I'll never know. I could have just lied and said I had a regular 370z that I added a body kit to but wasn't worth the hassle since I could get the PSS Will be hitting up the next auto-x in 2 weeks and will report back then. |

Toe affects turn, not just str8 line, to clarify. Best of luck with your tires.
Not debating your sidewall flex experience however, just trying to point out things that can affect the handling. I think if I am to go with pss in the future, I'll just go with stock size instead of the popular 265 up front. Keeping it slightly stretched may help a bit. Of course it does...but toe in does not help cornering or turn in, toe out will,thus if I said I am not running close to stock specs, someone would have been all over me blaming that... but they specifically toe in for highway stability. I went 265f and 295r originally and got rid of those promptly for stock sizes, which are better by far. If I were to do it again, knowing what I know about the pss I would use nismo rear at 285/35 and go 255/35 in the front, but next time it will be the s-04 or re-11.

I had these on my Z for a year, went to 3 track days and they performed like an extreme performace tire. The reasons they are so costly IMO is because 1) they are Michelins 2) they are more comfortable and quieter that any other summer tire that performs as well as this one (if there is one). 3) they are lighter that pretty much any tire.
PSS may not be the best bang for the buck for sure. But nothing like these as far as ultimate grip (for a max performance summer tire). You can argue that there are some tires that are not too far behind and cost like 25% less but like I said they are behind. Last edited by Juice14; 08-06-2013 at 11:32 PM. |
