Anyone have issues with the TPMS light constantly coming on?

So, I put my new wheels on, re-used the stock TPMS, only had 500 miles. The reset the TPMS once they were done. I drove away and all was fine. About 10 miles down the road, the TPMS light starts blinking and then glows solid. I take it back today, they cant get their tool to work on the obd port. I come home, learn about the extended storage switch, push it in, then take it back up. They re-set the TPMS again, light goes out, I drive away. About 10 miles down the road, the light starts blinking and then goes solid again. Anyone ever have this issue? Could my stock sensors be bad?

Sounds like the sensors are bad

dc3843 05-08-2013 09:35 PM

Which is weird cause they all communicate with the tool the tire shop uses and they reset the light when they tell it to, but get down the road a ways and they trigger again

That's weird. So they are scanning all the sensors then plugging it into the OBD port to relearn the sensors? it sounds like a sensor is damaged or the sensor system in the ECU isn't working.

Exactly. Hmm, I didnt have any problems with the stock wheels, but i guess the relearn could be causing an issue. I'll check with the tire shop tomorrow, then take it to the dealer if it doesnt fix it. Will they even warranty it though since it has to do with aftermarket wheels?

Ask if they are willing to show you the scanner after they scan it. Reason I say that is they can say they are all reading, wipe the scan clear from your ecu until your ecu checks the pressures and realizes its not there anymore. They could've possibly damaged a sensors on the swap and not wanting to fess up to it.

That's a possibility, seeing as they damaged my damn key fob. I'll find out today

Had that happen with mine, Nissan reset them twice before they worked.

dc3843 05-09-2013 11:26 AM

yea, I just had discount reset them again. I went to a nissan dealer this morning, the moron behind the counter says "I cant work on those, those wheels are causing the light to stay on, they dont run as much pressure as the stock wheels and thats why the light is on" I was like WTF??

There's bound to be more than one Nissan dealer in the Houston area. Call around.

I've had mine reset about 5 different times. Problem:

Lights off, drive for 30 mins, light blinks, then goes solid. Stays lit for a while, then goes off. Rinse, repeat.

It is due to a bad sensor. I had it inspected at a Sears Auto Center of all places, and they confirmed. Right front sensor is bad, needs replacement. So when I swap my fronts out, I'll have another sensor as well.

I didn't put TPMS in my winter wheels, and the light drove me crazy. And to uninformed people, warning lights = somethings wrong with the car. :ugh2:

Yea, the light drives me insane. This latest reset seems to have worked, it's staying off for now.
