the EVO S1 was discontinued and replaced by the V12. The V12 has the newer design and newer compound to improve upon the S1

After the UBER-crappy R-s2 212, Hankook has a lot of work to do to get me to buy another one of their tires.

The RS-2 was not the best tire for the market it tried to reach, but try the RS-3. GOOD GAWD THAT IS A STICKY TIRE..... I Guarantee if Sticky is what you want, with the RS-3 STICKY is what you'll get...

this is the tire the dealer is going to put on my new 19" polished aluminum wheels. he's charging me $939 for the tires, tax, installation, etc.

just fyi, I paid $725 before the $50 rebate for my 19's.

Thats a good price.

can anybody comment if the hankooks are better than the stock bridgestone re050a? more grip, quieter, etc?

I would if I ever got my wheels and could mount them up. They do look great stacked up in my garage though...

Since I'm no hardcore racer, I got tired of spending over $1200 (twice) on tires. As long as I can get the size I want with similar or better performance with existing tires, I'm fine spending $700 for tires.

I'm also interested with these Hankook tires, and I plan to get 255/35 and 285/30 with the Volks on the way. I also notice 305/30 for the same price, so I wonder if 255/35 and 305/30 would make sense (with VDC).

What size Volks did you order? 19" or 20"? Just in case you ordered the 20" Volks, the Hankook 305 rears come in 305/25. I didn't see a 305/30 in the 20" tire UNLESS you ordered the 19" Volk wheels. Then the Hankook come in a 305/30 rear in 19". Just FYI that's all. Good wheel choice!

Thank you! Here it is:
GTS 19X9.5 +40 5-114.3 FORMULA SILVER
GTS 19X10.5 +8 5-114.3 FORMULA SILVER

The front wheels require KICS 10MM WIDE SPACER 12X1.25 / 5-114.3
up front. So my initial setup is 255/35 and 285/30. I just wonder if I can get 255/35 and 305/30 (same price as 285/30) with these wheels, and whether VDC would like it. My car is at stock height, and I have no plans to drop it.

Why bother buying Hankook?

They're not worlds better than the michelins and goodyear or dunlops by those tests. So why not just buy those brands?

I never buy Korean products, not because I'm racist, but because everytime i give in and buy one its faulty or breaks easy, and then i just have to go out and buy Japanese/American. Good example, my friend bought a samsung phone a year ago, and now it's broken. my Sony Ericsson is going on 2 years.

Chan Chee Hoe 09-09-2009 06:23 AM

Agreed,Korean tyre need another 5-10 years to perfect...

Caravanshaka 09-09-2009 07:40 AM

because they are preforming just as good as the big brands at half the cost...
