Default Tire size to match the front...

Disclaimer: Please dont go off on a tangent blasting my choice of setup, tires, or the fact that I prefer a slight stretch. I need numbers and facts, not opinions or tastes/likes/dislikes.

I have done a good deal of research for the setup i'll be running. This is the setup

20x10 +15 front
20x11 +15 rear

The tire I need to run up front is a 245.

My choice will be with a 245/30-35/20 Falken 452 as they stretch quite well. Now, what size tire do I go for in the rear to match the stretch up front? I really dont want VDC issues due to different final diameters of the wheel+tire. My guesstimate would be a 275/30 in the rear, or maybe a 285/25 at most.

TLDR;

- 10 in wide front needs 245 tire
- 11 in wide rear - what tire size do I use to have a similar stretch?
- needs a balanced look, can't be rear meaty while the front is stretched.

Rears are one inch wider, one inch ~ 25.4mm so "equal" stretch would be 270. So you're right, 275 rears.

appreciate the quick answer.

regarding aspect ratios - does 30 front 30 rear sound good?

Or given the change in width (and aspect ratio being a direct % of width...) the front and rear aspects should deviate? such as 35 front 30 rear, or 30 front 25 rear?

Thanks

I ran a 255-35 front and 275-35 rear on my 350z with 9.5 front and 10.5 rear and they were stretched the same. So my guess is the front will be stretched slightly more to the naked eye but will be minimal.
As you stated a slight stretch, I would recommend 255 front and 285 rear which will still be stretched but not insanely stretched like the choices you have above.

I am not criticizing FYI just wanted to make you aware that it won't just be "slightly stretched" in my opinion, it will be aggressive stretched.

Thanks for the input!

The issue with running a 255 is fitment. I am ready to camber and roll, but not pull fenders. And thru all my research so far tells me that 245 is the largest I can go without encountering serious issues rubbing.

Perhaps I could roll on a 255... you're swaying me hard

Any pictures of the 255 on your 350? and what brand did you use? I hear the falkens run true, perhaps you had a tire that ran narrow?

EDIT:
also, found this in another thread

the factory front nismo rim is 9.5 wide and the factory front tires are 245/40. they have very very very lil stretch.
how is this possible? my rim is going to be a 0.5" wider and suddenly 245 becomes an agressive stretch? super confused...

Not really too sure regarding aspect ratios, most seem to run about 5 smaller on the rear, but idk what 25 would look like.

I have a nismo with a 245/40/19 on the Rays 9.5 inch front width rim. It has a mild stretch.

Below is my old Z
1. Black VOlk LE37 (polished lip) has a 245-35-19--- 9.5 inch wide
2. Black VOlk TE37 Gloss black has a 255-35-19--- 9.5 inch wide

More pics- See the difference, same angle but how different the stretch is on a 245 vs 255. keep in mind this is on a 9.5 inch wide rim.

If you go with a 255 on a 10 inch wide rim it will look similar to the pic with my Volk LE37s (black with polished lip)

A 245 on a 10 inch wide wheel will be stretched a lot more then that.

I will say that a 20x10+15 with a 255 will be pretty agressive. You may have to run a 245 to fit that offset but it will be more then a mild stretch thats the point i am trying to make to hopefully educate you prior to moving forward so you get the look you want.

245 and 275.

I ran into an evo on 10 inch wides with 245s and it was a stretch, however in my eyes it was nothing extreme and something im absolutely fine with. I looked up the tires he was running and they run true, as does the tire i went with. So it should be all good.

Coming in the mail tomorrow... Cant wait

Edit: your pictures and input really helped. Repped

Glad to hear! It will look sick, i never said it wouldnt look insanely hot!

I just wanted to make sure when you said slightly stretched you got exactly what you want since its like one of the biggest investments on the car you can make besides a turbo kit.

To me a slight stretch is like my stock Nismo wheels or my gloss black TE37s above.

I didnt want to phrase it like extreme stretch more of a slightly more stretch. If we started getting into the actual angle the tire sits at that may have been a little more of a precise way to speak about it! lol

Anyway those specs will look so good! I am psyched for you! Congrats
