Hey guys, check TireRack - they're back on in 265 and 305 again.

I bought the Direzza ZII and so far they have been great. They are quieter than the OEM Bridgestones and the sidewalls feel a little stiffer in stock sizes.
I've taken then to Texas World Speedway on a hot day and found they will get greasy if pushed hard, however the will come back if you take it easy for a few corners. They are very progressive towards the limit, so I never felt on the edge, which increased my confidence in them, and brought down my lap times.
I have them installed on an extra set of OEM wheels and will use them mostly for track and getting to and from the track.

Here are some of my laps and as you can hear they don't squeal a lot like the stock tires.

Awesome thanks for the feedback. The ZII's were the other tires that i was considering. Looks like i may have to give them a try. I had the ZI's on my S2000 and loved them and i hear the ZII's are ever better.

Huh?

If that's the case, it's not the tires, it's the driver.

Depends what you want to do. The ZII's are popular in the ST AutoX classes right now, and they perform well. However, many are going to the BFG Rival, including me when the +/-1" wheel diameter goes into effect next year for the Stock classes. I'll be stepping down to 18's just so I can run Rivals.

Nah, the PSS don't handle nearly as well on the track.

OP,

Zii is the autoX choice, re11 is the track option.

Gimme a set and I will.

Are those other tires good on the street? Or just track tires?

The Bridgestone came on top but Dunlop Z1 star spec came pretty close (correct me if I am wrong, but it was a #1 tire from previous test).

The New Dunlop Z2 is suppose to be better than Dunlop Z1 star spec (according to tirerack):

Tire Test Results : Dunlop Direzza ZII Introductory Track Drive

So I would say the Dunlop Z2 should be better or even closer to the RE-11s.

But the bottom line is, I think it's safe to say "Dunlop Z2 is better than stock in rain or shine."

I'm the biggest Star Spec fanboy around (just ask m4a1), but they don't handle heat nearly as well as the re11, which is critical with the extra couple of pounds up front on the Z.

How is this compared to the PSS'?

The re11 is a long way ahead of the PSS in terms of high speed handling and heat management. It makes trade offs in terms of pleasantness for those gains though.

The Zii is a tougher tire to nail down. I don't have enough experience in equivalent cars, but I think it does heat slightly better than the PSS. It's not as rough or loud as the Z1, but it is still pretty obnoxious IMO.

How would they handle in the Wet, for a daily? Or stay with the PSS for a daily/fun tire?
