Need rear tires

Stock Re050's are about shot and I was thinking of changeing these two out to the RE760's. Then I start reading where some say not to mis-match tires. Dumb question:

Dumb question: why not?

What would be the effect of the combo of 050's and 760's on my '09 MT ST coupe?

If this is really bad, then I will probably pay the much stiffer price for two 050's and wait until I kill the fronts with the new backs.

You won't notice any difference at all

I just started running the 760's on my Z and I really like them so far but I decided to buy a full set rather than run mis-matched like I have in the past

The issue with mismatched tires is when the grip level of the two tires is noticeable different. There are alot of threads on this from members who have done this and had the negative side effects. If the grip level of the 760's is similiar to the 050's then I probably wouldn't worry about it.

i did the same mix and match combo and no problems whatsoever.

I went on a Z G meet/run on Sunday. Insane twisties out in the country 3 digits for 2hours, I was completely comfortable with the response.

Default thanks

I do appreciate the replies. Especially the ones from those who have tried this combo.

It shouldn't be a big deal. Like others said, if your going with something really sticky in the rear. but have a crappy tire up front, your definately going to feel a negative difference. Your fine with what you want

Both tires suck. You'll be fine lol. I had both. Still have the RE760's but for the price and the wear, cant really complain.

nothing wrong with asking whether money must be blown for legitimate safety reasons before tossing 500$ out the window.

You must think were driving exotics by the way you judge someone's wise move of being financially responsible by asking a question before splurging away.

I only went RE760's when I swapped out here cause I didn't know about the AutoX events. I saw they had them on the Big Island but not here on Oahu. Only spent $415 for both rear tires installed so whatever. Next season a new set of tires is coming in and replacing these things.
