I am very new to my 370 and my last car (e92 335i) saw a huge improvement switching to 18s.
Well it all depends on the tire you go with. When you had mentioned meaty sidewall, you are going to get less precise feel, whether you are going to go with 19" or 18". Stay lower profile & it will handle better when pushing the car in the twist & turns.
