I have seen their wheels up close too and honestly don't seem like a quality wheel to me. I know they are a vendor on this forum and others run them but you will never see a set on any of my vehicles.

Keep your Volks

With the 20" CV3 I'd be adding close 5lbs to each wheel. Not sure if thats excessive or not. I can't see it affecting my performance all that bad, but then again I don't know much about that part of performance modding.

Vossen:
24lbs front and 26lbs rear
(20x9) front and (20x10.5) rear

Volk (Current Setup):
19lbs front and 21lbs rear
(19x8) front and (19x8.5) rear

Well upgrading to 20" wheels will also mean larger rotating mass and also heavier tire. If it was me I would pass

When you say "Volks" you don't mean the stock Rays wheels do you? If you care about weight but don't want to spend a ton of money grab a set of Weddsport SA55m they are like 2300 shipped for a 19 inch set and weigh 21 pounds a piece and are made in JAPAN and you can go with a more aggressive offset and more width and that would look 1000 times better then the dinky widths you have on there now...

Or even a better idea buy some 370z Nismo wheels, they are a concave 5 spoke design like you like but weigh 20-21 pounds and are forged with 19x9.5 front and 19x10.5 rear with Advan sport tires....

in reality how much slower will it make my acceleration. I mean, will it be that noticeable to go with Vossen?

Yes, but some people don't care so if you are more looks over power then sounds like its a good wheel for you.

Also what Volks are you rocking? Your pic looks like the stock Rays wheels... Not Volks but its hard to see.

Google unsprung weight FYI... A pound can make a huge difference but if you don't care all that much then rock whatever you want... Your G is already like 400 pounds heavier then a Z so what's a little more weight right :) lol

Are you calling my car fat!? It'll take your car any day of the week!!! Not really lol.

Education time: I thought Volks were rays. What's the difference? & I'll look into it, because if unsprung weight hampers me that much i want to avoid it.

adding 5lbs to each wheel is horrendous. it will make your car significantly slower.
i went from the stock g37 18s (which were ~27lbs) to the 370z s-tunes (20.5lbs and 21lbs) and stock tires(28lbs) to conti DWs (25lbs and 27lbs). let's just say it was the best $18XX i've ever spent on my car. i can lift the a wheel+tire with 1 arm now too LOL
simple google search can explain why... if you're a 'performance' guy, then vossens are definitely not the way to go.

you're on the g37 forums and if you look around you can find a post by a mechanical engineer (im banging my head against the wall because i cant find it) who compared different gains an losses from different mods from a scientific perspective. he concluded that rim upgrades are, by far, the best performance upgrades a car can receive (besides forced induction).

here's a good video, btw:

Your car has a little too much junk in the trunk.. Lol

Ok here goes- All Volks are Rays but not all Rays are Volk- Confused?
Rays is the maker- they make Volk, gram lights etc some wheels are just plain Rays wheels.

Also for unsprung weight- if you don't believe me check out the 2 piece rotors for the 370z where it sheds around 8 pounds of unsprung weight and they do dyno runs and the car actually gains horsepower proven.

Also my stock Nismo I think may take you ;)

Waiz 04-02-2013 09:57 PM

Oh damn I thought those were OEM G35 wheels but thought maybe you didn't have the Volks posted

Your wheels are still forged, don't settle for heavy cast wheels!

SgtGoldy 04-03-2013 12:43 AM

Alright... You bastards convinced me to not take the weight. Bye Vossens.... I knew you for such a short moment :'(. I can't hamper my performance, its just not worth it for style. So now onto finding some Forged wheels that will compliment my G!

Suggestions?

Wedsport SA55m is looking like a prime candidate right now... (I want to get both tires and wheels for under 3500.00). Opinions on Work Wheels? Are the forged?? Who wants to just give me some TE37SL for free?!?!?!

Yes Wedsport SA55m you can get with tires for under 3500. Now Weds isn't forged but the way they make the wheel they optimize weight savings so its as light as a forged wheel. ;) just remember who told you about Weds :)

Good luck young Jedi

Couldn't agree more with this.

SA55m's are FTW. I would run 18's though since they are a bit lighter and are less expensive same for the tires.

I was going to say that to the OP but I think he still wants to retain as big a rim as possible without sacrificing too much weight as we talked him off the ledge about a 20 incher! Lol

I was going to say the TC105n is a sexy 18 inch wheel by Weds!

I'm thinking of rocking some SA55s until I decide what wheel I really want :)
Nismo rims are great but I want something different.
