Questions about the RE-11's

After finally wearing down the original tires, I'm set on the RE-11's after reading all the positive comments about them, as I will be tracking my car in the future.

Default Questions about the RE-11's

After finally wearing down the original tires, I'm set on the RE-11's after reading all the positive comments about them, as I will be tracking my car in the future. Since they don't make them in the factory recommended sizes for the sport Rays, I called Tirerack but didn't get the answers that I was looking for. What I basically want to know is: Some people are running 265/285. Will there be rubbing on the front wheels without spacers? (This is what I want to run, but I am opposed to installing spacers.)

Only a diameter difference will change the speedometer. Only a difference in diameter from front to back will affect abs and traction control.

I ran re-11's on my previous car, I will get them for this car once I wear out the stockers.

Not sure if your on stock wheels or even lowered? This will answer a lot of questions. But either way the 265/285 shouldn't be an issue.

Also I've ran/ tracked RE 11's and now on AD08's. Without discussion or arguement I feel the AD08's have a slight edge over the RE 11's. Plus there a little cheaper per tire.

The car is completely stock minus an oil cooler, but I am not lowered or anything (I have the sport pkg btw). If the front tires won't rub with 265's these tires are most likely my choice.

EDIT: If the AD08's have better grip and are cheaper I may look into those. I just want a tire that's a good DD that can also perform on the track.

You can run 285-35-19 in the rear just fine, in fact the Nismo uses those sizes on it's wheels that is .5" wider--which is no problem on the stock rays wheels. It looks better and beefier too, as the 275-35-19's look too small as they are!

I definitely agree, I'm going to enjoy that little bit of extra grip in the back along with that fatter look. The only thing I am really worried about/don't know is if the 265's in the front have enough clearance to the side of the wheel well in a sharp turn. That being my biggest question, I should have phrased my OP a little better.

The new Dunlop Direzza ZII have the stock sizes 245f/275r and are a little cheaper than the Advan or RE-11. I just picked up a set.

Direzzas make it feel like the RE050's are like ice skates. My choices right now are between those, the RE-11, Hankook RS-3's or BFG Rivals. RE-11's look to be my cheapest option since I can get em through Costco and we are the only ones that don't charge shipping to bring it to Hawaii. Otherwise I'm paying an extra $200 per set just on shipping. Any of those tires will put the OEM Yokohama ADVANS or the RE050's to shame.

Great. Looks like I'll shop around and just pick up a set with a good price tag. I'm trying to save my money for some bolt-ons, so that extra cash will certainly be put to good use. And yes, with 15000 miles on these stock tires I will be happy to get a fresh set...it will probably be like driving a whole different car.

Ever looked into the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions? They're decently priced and have gotten some pretty good reviews, then again who knows how reliable these sources are.

It looks like I'll be going with the Dunlops. A little over $1000 for good performance is fine by me. I can't wait to hit the track with a fresh set of tires!
