Time to buy tires...need advise!!

I'm new to the forum, and all the threads and information out here is a bit overwhelming and a tad over my head, so thought I'd just ask outright.

I have a 2010 370Z Roadster Touring with Sport Package, so my back tires are a different size than my front. The car came with Bridgestone Potenza's (275/35R19, 96W on the back), and after just over 18,000 miles, they've worn down to 4/32nds on the left rear and 3/32nds on the right (both front are at 6/32nds, which I'm good with for now). I'm just a city/highway driver. I don't "play" in the car or spin my tires, though, I do like taking corners at a higher than average speed, which rounds out the edges a bit sooner.

This is the first car I've had with "low profile" tires, and I have a few questions.
1. Is 18,000 miles normal wear for low profiles?
2. Any recommendations on tire brands/types?
3. Should I go with manufacturer air pressure recommendations? I do find that it handles a tad better with a little more pressure than recommended.

I'm not concerned about cost and ooking for what rides and handles best on highways and in corners and lasts the longest. I will forsake duration for handling, though. :) Any advise would be tremendously appreciated.

18k out of stock tires is good
It'll be VERY hard to get tires that last longer than 20k miles on the rears... (The people that get 30k out of the rears shouldn't own a sports car)

LOL! Thanks, that's good to know! My car is not a garage floor weight that sits covered. It's my every day driving car...it just goes fast and corners well, which fits my driving style to a T! ;)

I do plan to one day take a high performance driving course, because even 2 years later, I'm still a bit timid of her power. I need to learn how to fully enjoy driving her.

Any recommendations on tires?

I'm going to say that Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Bridgestone RE-11's are a favorite here
I'm not a tire guy. I'm waiting for "ChrisChhorn" to reply to this thread

Personally I bought my car and the dealer had just put Yokohama S.Drives.
No complaints, I've put T/C off and floored it 10-20 times as well as a few canyon runs. I had 17k miles, then I flip flopped the rear TIRES, and I assume to get another 5k miles out of the rears (it'll take me to about 24k [put 1/2k since the flip flop])

So cross-rotating from side to side is good? The dealer doesn't recommend it.

You can't do it on all tires, some have an "outside" and some have a designated rotation direction

Again, I mean I flip flopped JUST the TIRES, so I had the rear tires taken off, then flip the tires from wheel to wheel

(Inside HAD 2/32" because of camber wear, and the outside was 5-6/32". Now the insides are 5-6, and the outside is 2/32")

Ditto

Be careful when mismatching front and rear. Different tread patterns can make the car handle strangely

Rusty 03-23-2013 06:43 PM

It would be best to get all 4 tires at the same time. Save yourself the headache of mismatched tires. I have the Mich PSS, and love them.

Have the Michelin PSS on the rear. Will be putting them on the front in about 2 weeks.

Bridgestone RE-11

I have been complained to about my "false" information in other threads so I'll stay low key for a while. I asked them to explain and all they told me was I was wrong and thats all they had to say  If you'd like to PM me, feel free too.

Tires

I like my Hankook v12s Many swear by the Michelin Pilot Sports. Hankooks are less expensive. I suggest you go to Getyourwheels.com. They will give great advice.
