What if you got a flat tire on a lowered car with bodykit?
Hi guys,
Sorry if this is a dumb question..this is my first time with a full body kit and lowered...but anways...For people that has a body kit(Amuse) and that is lowered on coilovers how do you change a flat tire if your out there on the road? With the car being low how do you get a jack under there? Do you carry a piece of wood 2X4 like this in your trunk at all times? to drive onto? Or what do you use? My car is getting the body kit installed right now and going to get it lowered on Bc Br coilovers.. im just curious how do you guys change a flat with a lowered car with a body kit or lip kit all around. Also far as changing oil.. im buying some ramps. Are the Rhino ramps any good? I saw those at the store the other day. Also if this is in the wrong section...mod please move. Thanks!

Tow truck it, if you have to get it lifted and something on then I would suggest tow truck that you know with a low profile jack. But honestly, you can get the car up on a flat bed without destroying that much unless the wheel is shattered.
On oil changes, Rhino ramps will not work, you need Race ramps. The angle at which the rhino ramps lift the car is to fast for amuse/drop. I was dropped with stock front bumper and started to scrape so we backed off.

how low are we talkin? mechanical scissor jacks can be pretty low. I crank mine all the way down, slide it under the car sideways, then stand it up into the slot. No problems here.

My car was at stock height with the amuse on. I got a flat tire in the rear and man, it was a bitch to maneuver the jack underneath to jack the car up. It kinda stopped me from lowering even though I really want to. I was thinking of carrying the 2x4 with me too but I haven't tried it

i actually keep a few scrap pieces of 2x4's in the trunk around the spare. nothing crazy, but using them would require some McGuiver type sh1t on the side of the road. still better than a tow if i can get that awesome spare on.
if im stuck, then call a friend.... then tow |

I have the ShineAuto sideskirts which sit almost 2 inches lower than the stock side skirts and im slammed. I usually keep a skinny jack and boards with me everywhere I go, unless im traveling to a show with someone else that already has these materials. I usually follow 1 of two options.
1. If its the back im trying to jackup, I roll up on boards then get the jack under the rear diff and jack up the car. 2. If its the front, I roll up on boards and get my skinny jack close to where the jack points are that I had to cut out the side skirt. Then I have a 2x4 block of wood I have to put between the jack point and the jack. Make sure the grain on hte block of wood goes against the lip on the jack point under your car, otherwise you will split the block.

Should count yourself lucky you even have a spare, in the UK we just get a can of something to spray in the flat tyre!

Are you talking about the accessory jack that comes in the trunk or a floor jack?
There are "racing jacks" that are a slimmer design or you could use wood like you posted to first raise the car slightly and then get a jack under it |
