Help with tires.
Hi,
I need to get new rear tires.. Any suggestions? I use the Z as my DD I do not drive it in the snow the winters do get cold.. and I do drive the Z in the rain.. No track at all, My priorities for the tires is: 1. Safe 2. Life of tire 3. Not super $$ Here are the 5 that I am looking at.. I know its a mix of all season summer, i am thinking I should (?) get all season since I do drive the car when the temps' are under 40... - Michelin-Pilot® Sport A/S Plus ( http://tires2.costco.com/product.asp...f-b2238738fc52 ) - Bridgestone-Potenza RE050A ( http://tires2.costco.com/product.asp...f-b2238738fc52 ) - BFGoodrich-g-Force™ Super Sport A/S ( http://tires2.costco.com/product.asp...f-b2238738fc52 ) - BFGoodrich-g-Force T/A™ KDW ( http://tires2.costco.com/product.asp...f-b2238738fc52 ) - Bridgestone-Potenza RE970AS Pole Position (http://tires2.costco.com/product.asp...f-b2238738fc52) Please help I really need to buy a pair for the rear ASAP.. Thanks, |
Why not look at Fuzion UHP's.

I hear nothing but great things about the pilot super sports, should check them out. If your willing to sacrifice a little bit of life for extra performance, the re-11's are the way to go, that's what I'm going with next season

I have the A/S+ on my ISF, GREAT tires, the grip was more than expected for an all season. And they have a 45k mile warranty (gets cut in half for the rears, so 22.5k) so if you DO get them from Costco, you can burn them up in 11k miles and get a new set for half off! Lol

i looked at getting the ContinentalExtremeContact DWS (from tirerack) but seems i cant get road hazard coverage on them from atleast the installer I called..
I really want to get road hazard coverage.. |

I am running a set of RE970's on front of my car right now. No complaints for an all season. I had them on my rear before I bought new wheels and was very surprised with traction. They gave better grip the then OEM Advans by a fairly large margin. I was able to launch the car more easily and consistently. Hell, I pulled a 1.9 60ft time at the track on them on the base 18's with no LSD. I'm still using them on my fronts right now and I autocross on them and I'm surprised with how they handle. Plus Costco is doing $70 a set of bridgestones right now so they are going to be best bang for the buck IMO. 40k warranty for fronts and 20k for the rears.
edit: my only dislike about the A/s+ is they tend to wear in weird ways. They like to chip on the shoulders under aggressive driving but the ride quality is softer. Road noise is one of the best you can get. |
thats awesome to know.. for my driving habits.. it seems the A/S+ might not be an issue? as I hardly do any aggressive driving..
I am no planning on getting 4 tires rite now so I dont think i would get the 70 off... how many miles do you have on the RE970's? Thanks, |

So mind at ease! |

Right now, about 11k. Andrew, the irregular wear isn't covered by the warranty since its basically expected. its dependent on the warehouse too but 95% won't cover it. |
