Bigger tires on stock rims?

Has anyone run/is it possible to run 275/35/19 on the front stock sports mags and 305/30/19 on the rear stock sports mags? Would the side walls be OK?

I think the side walls look perfect with those tire sizes. Read this thread, on page three I mount up 305 Bridestone RE11's on the back and move the 275 RE050A's from the rear up to the front. After that, I put on 15 mm spacers and I show before/after pictures as well as multiple angled shots of the sidewalls.

I've done on a few cars I have. It's not bad.
Use a tire calculator to find the right ratio (the middle number on tires)

Right on - I thought I had read somewhere about a swap but after a few pages into searches I give up.... Thanks for the info - I'm putting that in the memory bank for when I have to replace my tires....

read through this and the other thread. anybody know if the 275f/305r stagger on the stock sport pkg wheels will rub on the inside? seems pretty obvious to me that there's no worry moving it closer to the fender, but i'm concerned that i would have to run more than a 5mm spacer to prevent inside rub.

forgot to mention the assumptions: everything stock (i.e., not lowered, no camber arms, etc), running RE-11's.

I think i will try 285/35-19 or 275/40-19 once the back tires are gone..

I run 275f, 305r on stock wheels with 15mm spacers front and rear and I'm lowered to 26.5" at the fender lip (via coil over shocks). Under hard corvering with bumps the fronts touch down on the dimples that stick down on the front plastic fender liners. Some people have ground them off for clearance, but I have been lazy about it. I never scrape until I'm around 1g lateral load, so it's not very often.

oops, misread your question. I ran them for a few days without spacers and they rubbed on the same place on the fender liners. The tires never touch down on anything during sharp turning, like in parking lots. that's where you would get rubbing on inside, but it never happened. going to 275 only puts the inside 15mm closer to any suspension parts, but it wasn't an issue during the short time I ran it without spacers. The spacers give it a much better look, with more aggressive stance and wider track.

Did Bridgestone stop making the RE11 275/35/19? I went to their website and they are not listed, I really want these tires damn. Phimosis where did you pick up your Bridgestone RE11?

They never made a 275/35, only a 275/30. Perhaps you're confusing it with the RE50A stock tires?

The rolling diameter is pretty close anyways. I have them as my front tires.

TBSS2008 09-03-2009 03:02 PM

Thanks for the update. Your Album showing the RE-11 tires says your front tires are 275/35/19 so I thought what gives why would Bridgestone stop selling this size.

Your car looks great and seems to be stock height. Did you find the front tires to gap alot more the the RE050A 245/40/19?

Thanks again for responding!

ChrisSlicks 09-03-2009 08:48 PM

Oops! That was a typo, the front tire is definitely 275/30R19, I just ran out and checked it. The rear is 305/30R19.

What do you mean by gap? Are you referring to the gap between the tire and the fender or something else?

TBSS2008 09-04-2009 09:00 AM

Yeah the gap between the tire and the fender on the front, but looking at your car it does not look to be too much.

The RE-11 tires are getting good reviews; do find them to grip a lot better then stock tires? I am looking for more grip and more width, might as well take advantage of the wide Stock wheel sizes. Looking at the charts at Bridgestone the stock tires should be mounted on an 8.5 inch wheel for the front and 9.5 for the rear. Plus the side walls on these tires are stiff enough no need to stretch the tires over the wheel.
