Thread Jack:
At what temperature do the summer tire begin to fail in winter. What are the signs of failure as it gets colder or does it just happen all at once? e.g. at 40 degrees it makes a noise and at 35 degrees it slides like Fred Flintstone. And can you keep some heat in tires in winter by continuos movement?

Up until a few days ago, I had very little scrub noise from my original equipment tires. We had a cold snap (~28F outside, ~50F in garage) and I guess my tires have worn/aged enough that the treads are less flexible. Backing from the driveway onto the street now sounds like I'm driving over crushed glass or have a wheel bearing that is shot. I'm glad I only have to put up with it for a few days.

I think it would help if the google search bar was on that main page instead of under the advanced search. It always seems to return better results. Just my .02.

Think I have a steering column issue
I have a PW 2011 sport/touring coupe. Whenever I lock the wheel all the way in either direction and move the car forward or backward, I hear a grinding (non-metallic) noise from the front of the car. It kind of sounds like thunder (best way I can describe it). The car is at the dealer right now, but i was checking in to see if anyone has an idea of what the problem is. The car is totally stock.

I spoke to the technician just now. He told me that the shuddering I'm getting is from the "camber roll". He said that this is normal. I have 13,xxxmi on the car.

When in full lock and cold temps, your tires will growl and make you think something major is going on. perfectly normal.
