Its normal for it to "walk" a little....not too sure the extent of what your scenario is.

The tire skipping is normal due to the large tries and colder weather.

Cold tires are more prone to do this. Also not sure if your Z has the VLSD or some aftermarket LSD but any LSD will add to this "problem" of tire skipping.

My car is only 6 months old and it does this too now that it's colder out.
It's just the tires scrubbing a bit. To stop this, once you have the wheel turned all the way quickly depress the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there. You'll notice it stops right away.

Once the tires warm up, the rubber becomes more pliable and will form to the turn rather than just skipping across it. OP- as others have said, it's normal tire skip. Don't worry about it. |

I also think the ackerman angle isnt 100% correct at full lock. Its probably a design concession for the overall supension geometry, but my feeling is that Nissan had to comprimise proper ackerman in the name of achieving a small enough turning circle.

Like most have said, it's the tires. Summer compounds in cold weather don't grip. They skip over the road surface during tight turns which is what you're hearing/feeling. All of my summer-tire equipped cars do it, regardless of tire size.

Wheel Grinding Feeling when making sharp turns
As i was pulling out of my driveway today i turned the wheel as far to the left as I could to get out of my driveway and on to the road, I noticed a feeling as if my front tires was driving on rocks and my front end moved as so.I felt the movement on the steering wheel as well. Imagine driving a truck on some river rocks and turning the wheel from a dead stop then pulling forward, it is not smooth at all and you feel the tires and the vehicles kind of doing what they want. My first thought was that my wheels were about to fall of but the lug nuts are correctly tightened. I went ahead and finished pulling out of the driveway and decided to try it while going forward and the same thing happens. This all happens on flat pavement that is smooth. Is there something wrong or is it just the clearance of the wheels. It is a stock 2010 Z with stock wheels and tires. Thanks.
