Ditto... after getting new tires with my wheels, I've not encountered this issue. :-)

Yes I do have a sport package with a LSD. But I think it's the front tires, not the rear. I could be mistaken though. Maybe I'll get someone to watch from outside.

I agree that it seems to only happen when it's cold outside, as I do not remember this from summer time. And I usually experience it when pulling out of my drive way to go to work in the morning when it's like below 40 degrees outside.

I also agree about the tires. This could definitely be the source of the problem. They suck in cold weather. I spin out too easily now in 1st gear.

They suck in cold weather because they are summer tires. If they are below operating temperature they are going to be slippery as hell... they are like hockey pucks in the winter. So if you insist on driving hard with them, be careful.

i can verify this it happened on my car everytime i took a slow turn near lock and caused massive understeer when i tried to make a yellow once(i know for shame but no one was at the intersection so i said what the hell). I'm wondering if the front tires are doing it merely due to the awesome width on the things just like how the car dances on the highway because it can't drop into the groove.

Yeah the road-controlled steering forces you to pay pretty good attention most of the time, at least on some of the roads I drive on. I avoid certain lanes on my drive to work.

Mine does it but only when I first start it in the cold weather. I noticed it twice when pulling out of a parking space. On a warm day, doesn't happen.

OH YES ! I HATE that road controlled BS. I was thinking it was just me due to a couple reasons such as my front is taller than the rear(pretty close if not) due to bad tires sizing and the front tires being a larger diameter tire than the rear. Thought maybe that was the reason for that road shxt. So the real reason is what then ?

Also could it be the LSD causing this ? Because I don't have one and I haven't noticed this issue.

this is exactly what happens to me. im glad someone else is having this problem (just discovered this thread)

armensti 01-06-2010 10:15 PM

yeah i was gonna ask about this too. when i start my car and get out of my parking space i have to turn my wheel all the way to the right to back up and it starts to act weird like something is grinding.

RX370Z 02-07-2010 06:38 AM

My car is stock and does the same thing leaving a parking spot or pulling into the garage. Glad it's normal.

I don't think it's that much of a problem. Mine does the same thing, it's most noticeable when I'm doing a U turn and the road surface is a bit dusty, I can feel the front slipping away as with under steer. I believe this mostly caused by a combination of short wheel base and wide front wheels.

pgrmstr 02-08-2010 09:45 AM

I've noticed the front doing this from day one.....and I think its just a product of the front suspension geometry. At this time of year, with stone cold tires, they are not very pliable and will shudder skip MUCH more than in warm weather when the rubber is pliable and willing to shave/scrub across the warm blacktop. Additionally, I know the geometry changes under compression....as in real driving examples....where the weight transfers and compresses the suspension. In the slow parking lot stuff....there is no weight transfer and the "cranked" tires have no real weight on them so they will tend to skip across the blacktop....at least those were my thoughts, sounded reasonable to me so I never worried about it once I noticed it and thought about it.

Haven't noticed any issues with the rear though...

Is that clunk in the rear coming from your coilovers? Did you have the sounds prior to coilovers?

noticed last night that at full lock (not sitting against the stop, to the stop, and back off a slight amount) that the front end binds somewhere....

it feels like my 4x4 dune buggy with a lock front end.... or simliar to over extending a cv joing. you can feel it through the wheel and floor, almost like the outside tire is skipping. i find this very odd since my car is lowered about 1", nothing crazy.

now, its not that its a huge bother, but i am very anal and do not like "not knowing" what it is. nothing is rubbing i can visually see, and unfortunately no not have the ability to see under the car with the front weighted down (lift ect) to peek around.

also, ive noticed a clunk in the rear end.

here is what it is :ugh2:

Car makes binding noise at full steering lock

As above, almost like the LSD is having trouble turning at full steering lock, car will move a few feet then I get the noise. Almost like a bad CV in a front wheel drive car. Any thoughts??? Nismo stock hight and rims
