Somehow managed 31k out of the stock Potenzas! (Long Interstate commute to work, mostly) Could have probably stretched a few thousand more out of them had I paid closer attention to how bad the alignment was getting. Little tread left on the outside, not even touching the wear indicators on the inside. Oops. :icon17:

Been putting new ones off through the holidays, but last straw was finding a screw in the left front a week ago. Had Discount Tire order me a fresh set of Pilot Super Sports after reading all the glowing reviews here and other places, and thus far I have to agree! I'm taking it easy on them until I get it aligned tomorrow morning, but they are definitely quieter on the Interstate. Ride quality noticeably better too. So far I'm quite impressed!

So...in honor of the new tires and a new camera in the toybox...enjoy a few pics! :D

Pic of 31k Potenzas? Congrats on the new rubber, I'm at 14k now and the PSS are on the list. Thanks for the pics! Clean Z too!

:icon18:

When I bought my car with 14k miles the alignment was "in spec" but the rubber on the rear was 1-2/32nds on the inside and 5/6-32nd on the outside

Currently with another 16k it's a bit better, but I drive harder than the previous owner and I'm on Yokohama SDrives... Going to take it for another 2-3k miles and call it quits

I just went back with the stock sizes.

Thanks! Good luck getting yours. Never thought of taking pics of the old tires, though. They looked just like new ones, minus the majority of the tread. :rofl2:

Like I said, mostly just miles from a long daily interstate commute. Kinda suprised I got that much life out of them. I generally go pretty easy on it, other than the occasional burst of speed on 77/485, or takeoff from a light. I'm not the type to go drifting around interstate on-ramps or anything like that. :icon17:

DrTius 01-13-2013 08:41 PM

Not sure I can stomach going to Michelin. Always told myself I'd never buy Michelin after their fiasco in F1 in Indy and all but killing the USGP (yeah, I hold a grudge).

I could understand that! I've never followed open-wheel that closely, though I respect any form of auto racing...but I've certainly been know to hold a grudge or two against some sponsors in NASCAR from time to time. :icon17:

Another set of PSS for the win. The tire changes the car. If you are even remotely interested, find someone with them and drive em. Never ever going back. Im putting these on the GTI this summer. Both machines on PSS!!!

Nice car and pics. Great looking Z-Roadster. Really nice!

Okay... how much have you guys dropped on a set of PSS? I have them already installed on some Volk TE37SL and I want to get a new set before the treads began to disappear....

My last set were about $1,350.00 delivered. I don't pay for mounting and balancing.

Unless you change your driving habits the you most likely see less. Not to discourage you but the PSS's are stickier. Everything comes with pros/cons. But with the deal you got on them it would be hard to complain. I'd take that deal in a heartbeat.

DWS44 01-16-2013 12:32 PM

Mine were $1475, including mount/balance, for stock sizes.

JungleZ 01-16-2013 03:10 PM

I love these tires, completely changed the car for me. Do you guys know if not having LSD effects me on the street even on launches and fast turning?

tWeEzY 01-17-2013 08:55 AM

How did yall transport the tires to the shop? I could barely fit 2 tires in mine

Perhaps, but at least I now know the purpose of those giant wings people put on their cars.

I just had mine installed where I purchased them. Got them at a local Discount Tire following some local recommendations. Price-wise, they were actually cheaper than Tire Rack.

speedfreek 04-08-2013 06:56 PM

I didn't want to start a whole new thread but was wondering what mileage people are getting on the PSS? I am in the market for a new set and these are on the shopping list, but I need some tires that will last a bit longer than the stockers without sacrificing all of their grip.

I got 13,500 miles out of my first set of PSS (rears) and replaced them only. The fronts are still good (about 6/32) at about 20,000 miles.

I think it is going to be a routine of replacing rears twice for every front replacement.

LakeShow 04-08-2013 11:24 PM

I've been dying to get my hands on a set of these, just so expensive!

axmea? 04-09-2013 02:34 AM

Lakeshow --- They are pricey but way better than v12's or RE's and what not. I got mine for a very good deal that lot's of shops could not match. The closest was within 100 bucks installed.

Thanks onzedge. That isn't terrible for the kind of tires they are. Now to find a good deal on them. Tirerack has them for $1150 after rebate in stock sizes.

I know. But relative to the other good rubber they are very reasonable. They are only expensive compared to Hankook, Kumho, Sumitomo, etc.

I keep going back to the v12's because of price and how fast I am going through tires. The Z is my DD right now and I go on a spirited runs time to time. Right now I have a rear suspension problem that is eating my rears off that I am getting fixed prior to the new tires being installed.

xxAGAVExx 04-09-2013 09:51 AM

Just got mine put on last week :) I bought them from tirerack.com, saved me almost $300 installed vs Costco. First time I ordered tires online, gonna order online from now on.
