18" wheels, sport brakes what offset?

I am looking to pickup some 18" wheels for track/racing. It is not clear to me what offset is needed on 18" wheels to clear the sport package brakes. 19" wheels are not an option for me (tires are 18"). I need to pickup several sets of wheels 18x9 front and 18x10 rear but obviously don't want to be wrong.

Can anyone let me know what is needed in terms of front and rear offset? Tire rule limits front to 275/30 max and rear 275/35. I don't want to run spacers if I don't have to. The threads here I have read through and can't find a clear enough answer. The Enkei RPF as an example, not clear what offset clears the sport brakes..

its depends on what wheels also. the rpf1's +35 dont clear sport brakes but the TC105n's i have with a +35 offset do. the face design has a lot to do with it. best thing to do is choose a wheel then ask some of our wheel vendors on here for more info!

No TC105n's in 18x9 or 18x10 (my limit size) for SCCA :(

its not as simple as offset. has to do with design too. So theres no way to 100% answer what offset will work.

like the person above, pick some wheels, and ask one of the wheel vendors. Or just call ravspec and tell them what you need and they can get it to you.

stock 18s fit the stock akebono big brakes, so if you can get a set of those, you can measure the pad to disc distance.

offset has nothing to do with it.

you need the "A" measurement:

Just get these and call it a day:

Volk TE37SL
Front: 18 x 10 +30
Rear: 18 x 11 +18

I'm running these on my Nismo with NO clearance problems.

I posted this already, limited to 18x9 front and 18 x 10 rear to meet the racing rules :(

So find me a Volk 18 x 9 and 18 x 10 and I am in business :)

Or Enkei, they are cheap. This will be my 6th race car and never been this hard to figure out, it is funneh.

saw the "or" and figured either one was fine.

ZoomZoom, i posted in your thread in the track forum

Mike 01-07-2013 06:26 PM

do they have to be 9 and 10, or is that the widest? Stock 18s might be the best answer, possibly even widening them to the width you want. I widened a set of 350z track wheels for my setup to 9.5" and I run 295/40 Hoosiers on them.

chrischhorn 01-07-2013 06:45 PM

SA-55ms are always and option too. but enkeis you will for sure hav to run spacers to clear.

clintfocus 01-07-2013 08:21 PM

pf01, great option

Volk Z 01-07-2013 08:24 PM

Yeah go with wedsports light weight good looking wheels and are cheap and are made in Japan... I believe Weds have been making wheels for a REALLY long time

OMGWTFBBQ 01-07-2013 08:29 PM

What's your budget for wheels only? That might give us a better idea of what wheels you should be looking at.

No real budget except I have to buy at least 3 sets. My preference would be to not buy 3 sets of Volks if I can find something else, although 1 set Volks (or comparable cost) or maybe 2 would be okay.

Car will be raced in SCCA so the wheels will get the crap beat out of them.

Fronts 9" rear 10"

Stock wheels too heavy. Tire limit is 275 max also.

Obviously want to run the widest I can, but guess I could run 18 x 8.5 front if it helped and 18 x 9.5 rear if I had to (or 10 rear).

Trying to avoid spacers unless I want them for track. Also rule that limits tires sticking out wider than body work although i am not as worried about that.

What offset on these? I see the 18 x 9 +20 and they also have 18 x 9 +36
The rears are 18 x 10 +18 and +36 which I assume both would fit the rear?

These wheels look nice enough, need to check weights now. If I can save 4-5 lbs per wheel I will likely go Volks to get the weight saving.

Zoomzoom22 01-07-2013 09:55 PM

Weights are 18 x 9 are 19.5 and 18 x 10 are 20.4

I like the gunmetal and also the black/blue. Not bad looking, thanks for the idea. I like buying different sets (color) so we can keep them straight so this isn't too shabby. Little heavy but not overly heavy and the price isn't bad.

Can anyone weigh in my offset questions on these in my post above?

guru 01-07-2013 09:57 PM

is 9.5 an option for up front?

Nope.

Zoomzoom22 01-07-2013 10:14 PM

I made a post here under track and the 18 x 9 +35mm enkei pf01 apparently fits also and are 19.2lbs.

FWIW another site says the SA-55 18x9 actually +38 weigh nearly 21lbs. 2lbs each corner is a lot. Hmmm.

chrischhorn 01-07-2013 11:19 PM

+20 front and +18 rear are good. both will still be slightly sunk but no more then 5-10 mm. and as for weights, thats why i love my tc105n's! 18x9.5 @ 17.6lbs and 18x10.5 @ 18.4lbs :happydance:

BGTV8 01-07-2013 11:24 PM

I have RAYS Gram Lights 57G (Hyper Bronze) in 8.5 x 18 +33 for front and 9.5 x 19 +22 for rear with 3" ARP wheel studs so I can tune the handling with hub-centric spacers to adjust the front track.

I run 245/40R18 and 275/35R18 on these wheels and have no real issues.

I also have a set of TE37's in 8.5 x 18 +30 (F) and 9.5 x 18 +35 (R) which I use a 13mm hub-centric spacer with to give me +22 at the rear.

These all clear the sport brakes without any issues.

I have a spacers for the front (again - all hub-centric) in 4mm, 6mm and 10mm to tune the front track when required.

clintfocus 01-08-2013 12:09 AM

i answered your offset questions in the track thread :D
