Forgestar question

So I ordered some Forgestars way back on August 7th, to those of you who have had them or ordered them how long did yours take? Before I fly off

Default Forgestar question

So I ordered some Forgestars way back on August 7th, to those of you who have had them or ordered them how long did yours take? Before I fly off the handle I want to approach this as cool headed as possible to possibly see if there is an actual good reason.

I for the life of me can't figure out why a domestic manufacturer is slower than me getting my Volks shipped here from Japan. (My Volks were almost 3 months on the dot as quoted.)

I guess I'm the only unlucky one then on this forum. After reading last night into the record on AZ and M5 Board, really wish I woulda looked into the companies bad reviews before I looked into the good ones.

Who did you order them through?

I've heard of one member on here waiting 6 months on them, to get one that was damaged and had to wait another 6 months to get that 1 wheel. Just to end up selling his Z in the end...

I ordered them through GETYOURWHEELS, but I doubt the problem lies with them as a lot of other boards have reported it was Forgestar, last update GYW gave me was they were being painted on the 19th of November. Tried to contact Forgestar earlier on and no reply either.

Just an update the wheels finally got here, they were in almost perfect condition, save for a few powdercoating blemishes. Small pieces where it look like a paint clog and spit, a small one near the center of one of the wheels and another near the lip of one of the other wheels. Small enough that the receiver of the wheels didn't mind or notice much and really didn't want to send them back due to the time it took the wheels in the first place.

I will say through the entire process Eric with GETYOURWHEELS was always readily accessible and did give me updates when asked. I would definitely like to plug them for a bit as being a good vendor with good contact.

That being said on the flip side...be prepared for the wait with Forgestar if you want them that bad be very weary on projected times. My Volks literally were ordered, shipped, and received faster than the Forgestars.

Cliffs:

GETYOURWHEELS - A+ Service

Forgestar - Make sure you REALLY REALLY want them before you decide to order.

Yeah that was the gist of others complaints as well.

Thanks for the kind words. We try to give the most accurate lead times possible. Unfortunately even Forgestar can not control the powder coaters. I am glad you are happy with your purchase!

Best,

Eric

I think forgestar SHOULD control the powdercoaters. That would be like Nissan saying that they could produce 100,000 cars per year but the guys in the paint booth are slow so we only made 52.

All I have to say is Six Sigma

I think more of the problem is an open line of communication. I know telling someone it could take 6 months may make you lose customers. Heck so will people who are told 3 months, and 3 months on the dot they blow up every forum telling people how much the company sucks when the wheels are not done.

I used Eric @ GetYourWheels to order and then I also kept in touch with Peter @ Forgestar. I was more than happy with my start to finish with them both.

To the OP you also need to take into account SEMA going on during your order process which overloads almost every company like this. Also they have 4 quality control inspections during the build process, if something is found they correct it. If that makes it take longer so be it, they catch it in house and take an extra month, or send it out and take an extra 3 months after you get it. I would take the first option.

In a perfect world yes, but at the volume they do its just not possible to control the powder coating company.

Well I would have had no problem with the wait, I waited for my Volks, though the wheels were not for me. As you stated it is more about the projected time as opposed to being given the correct ETA. Having a female drill you over and over about when her wheels were supposed to be here takes a toll.

I was told in the painting process the wheels were sent back due to a finishing problem, they got here and still had a few issues as I've already noted. So...quality inspectors weren't 100% this time, but I digress. I would do business with Eric again but not Forgestar, I also tried to contact them to no avail. That being said she got the wheels she wanted, I just told her to not damage them too badly or she might be in for that same wait time again.

Her photo collage on her 2012 535i.
