Forgestar Rims

Anybody have the Forgestar F14's on their Z?

Looking to get a set, wanted to know some opinions on them.

Weight looks pretty decent, at around 24lbs for the 19" x 9's and 19 x 10's i think.

AutoX Z 07-03-2009 09:53 AM

Do a search there are a couple people that do, or atleast did.

nogoodname 07-03-2009 10:22 AM

ummm....DDM had it on his car right...there are pics

M.Bonanni 07-03-2009 11:18 AM

Yeah I have a set on my 370Z. There will be a few others on here who should be getting theirs soon as well.

As far as opinions go, I love them. I think they are priced way too low for the quality of the wheel and being able to customize offsets and such. I have no complaints.

DDM are you on springs or coil-overs..??

BC Racing coilovers

Thanks..

The only "downside" of having a car like the Z is that there are sssooo many brands and parts to choose from.. There's no perfect setup.. It all depends on the owner's intentions with the car.. Too many brands and too many parts.. Hard to make a choice..

nogoodname 07-03-2009 11:30 AM

don't jinx it DDm "priced way too low for the quality"

They are one of the few companies who actually send their wheels out to third party strength testing to ensure that they are plenty strong enough for the cars they will be going on. They also do powdercoat instead of paint to ensure that the finish is even strong.

Caravanshaka 07-03-2009 12:46 PM

frankly they should raise their prices, maybe then they wouldn't have so much business that they could finish my wheels, lol

nogoodname 07-03-2009 12:49 PM

^^ still didnt get urs??...lol....concavity is just to popular....it's a trend now bc i said so

Caravanshaka 07-03-2009 12:55 PM

Fingers tapping Still waiting..... 30 days and counting

All I can say is it's Mike's fault. If the rims didn't look so good on his car everybody wouldn't want them

Minicobra1 07-03-2009 02:00 PM

Do they make a satin finish yet? (20%-50% gloss), I dont want gloss or flat. Something in between.

No. I would say that the Matte Black on my car is closer to a satin than a traditional flat. You have seen them in person though so I am sure you are talking about something with even more gloss. The next color they are going to release will be a gold and I think they will be discontinuing a few like the two tone finish and possibly the gunmetal and formula silver but I don't think they have 100% decided on that yet.

nogoodname 07-03-2009 02:04 PM

gun metal is pretty nice

Knives 07-03-2009 03:13 PM

The matte black does look sick.

Did I read that they are working on an 18" version of the F14's?
Anyone know the weight on the 18's, if they're out?

They are working on an 18" F14 which is just about to start production. Expected weights can be found on page 4 of this thread...

http://www.the370z.com/tires-wheels/...orgestars.html

They will also be doing a 20" version.

Yeah, they looked pretty good in person, but just a little too flat. The rims I have on my Mini are a 50% gloss, or at least thats what the guy at the powder coated told me. Hope things are going good for you

I love the look of the F14s, my only question is are the center caps removable? I'd be interested in seeing what they look like with out the white Forgestar cap.

They are actually a polished finish with yellow/red/black logo. They are removeable though so you can either leave them out or paint them to match the color of the wheel.

I know, right? Any chance we could get a picture of them on your car with the caps removed, DDM?

Gold, huh? Any chance of the bronze yet? I think the bronze would do better then gold.

They are still trying to decide on a final color. Could be more towards bronze or more towards gold. They aren't sure yet.

shabarivas 07-06-2009 01:55 PM

+100 on bronze please :)

speedworks 07-07-2009 07:38 AM

If it is bronze, I think I have a winner

I have a set installed on my car. I ordered them and it took 6 weeks for the wheels to arrive initially. That was fine except when they arrived I realized that the one wheel had abrasions around the lugnut holes. I was going to forgive that since they were "minor" flaws in the wheels. I had the wheels mounted before I noticed the major flaw. The two rear wheels were darker in color than the front wheels. The left rear wheel is only a little darker, which could possibly be lived with, but the right rear wheel looks more like their gunmetal color. According to Forgestar it is the lighting in the photos that caused the color variation, which I could maybe see for the left side. I obviously have seen them in person, though, and they are indeed darker. I contacted Forgestar about replacing the rear wheels. They said that they would replace the right rear wheel, but not the wheel that came with abrasions and admittedly (by Forgestar) looked a little darker than the front wheels. I just wanted them to do the right thing and replace the two rear wheels for the reasons stated above, but apparently that is not going to happen. They did, however, offer to send me shipping stickers so that I could send the wheels back to them for a refund. They did warn me that if the wheels get bent in shipping somehow and UPS does not cover the damage then the wheels will be shipped back to me and I would be stuck with them.

Don't get me wrong. I think the wheels they produce are awesome and a great deal for how much they cost. I am just not impressed with the way in which they handled this situation. I would call once a week or so to see how the progress was going, and I was spoken to like I was bothering them. If I am not mistaken, there are a group of people (who ordered Titanium finish) that had a similar problem with the wheels, so I don't believe I am alone with my frustration.

Pictures are attached. If you all want to see the lugnut abrasions I can post those as well. You can't quite see the full extent in the pictures I took, though.

M.Bonanni 07-08-2009 02:16 PM

Oh wow, that is no bueno. I hope that whatever the final outcome, everyone is happy.

Caravanshaka 07-08-2009 02:23 PM

damn...if mine come in like that I'm gonna be PISSED

they aren't replacing both of the rear wheels for you?

Dave384 07-08-2009 02:48 PM

No. They are not replacing both rears. For about a week and a half, I was under the impression that they were, but I just spoke to them today and they will not replace the left rear. He seemed frustrated that I kept "checking in", and he offered to take the wheels back and refund the money. It is not what I want at all, but it seems like that is what it has come to. Now I have to pay to have the wheels dismounted and all this time has been wasted. It's unfortunate. :(

Caravanshaka 07-08-2009 02:54 PM

I'd be livid.

If it weren't for Mike at DDM taking pretty good care of me and my transaction with them, I'd be calling to cancel my order right now =/

speedworks 07-08-2009 03:01 PM

Wow, it seem obvious to me that the rears are both darker. It is disappointing that they are not going to take care of you. It will probably make me NOT want to deal with them - bad way to start. Keep us informed if anything changes.

BTW - I would be PISSED.

Dave384 07-08-2009 03:23 PM

Here are the photos of the lugnut blemishes. Pay attention to the marks on the out rim of the lugnut holes. They look worse in person, but they are not absolutely horrible. Also, the marks were there prior to mounting. Even one of the service guys noticed.

P.S. Just in case others have these wheels on order, you will have to buy aftermarket lugnuts to mount these wheels. I found this out when at the dealer. I think they used Maxima lugnuts, which are smaller in diameter.

Togo 07-08-2009 03:34 PM

This isn't good to hear at all. I'm all for quality customer service. I'd be pissed that the wheels arrived in this manor and furious that they weren't going to rectify the situation.

LiquidZ 07-08-2009 03:47 PM

Well, looks like my respect for Forgestar just plummeted. I might not be placing an order at all and forking out the extra cash for some quality SSR Type-F's.

Togo 07-08-2009 03:53 PM

Companies need to realize the effects of the internet and the consequences of their actions. It's not difficult at all to share information or experiences with an exorbitant amount of people. They are only shooting themselves in the foot right now.
