Yeah that was my fault I suppose. Looking at it, I thought the stock lugs might work, but I didn't try so I haven't been letting people know that they will need aftermarket lugs.

Anyways, most any aftermarket lugs will probably work. Its the flange washer thing on the stock lugs thats the problem. Any Rays/Project Kics/Muteki lugs will be find. Thread pitch is M12x1.25 for the Z.

Caravanshaka 07-08-2009 04:16 PM

I got muteki lugs from DDM

P.S. Just in case others have these wheels on order, you will have to buy aftermarket lugnuts to mount these wheels. I found this out when at the dealer. I think they used Maxima lugnuts, which are smaller in diameter.

Did they sell you a mixed set of used wheels? 4 wheels painted or powdercoated together at the same time should all be the same color, and the scratched lug holes are unsat, unless they told you they were selling you used wheels.

F that man... I was hoping that these guys would be legit - I was going to place an order kinda soon - but guess ill be waiting on finding some volks instead... sad...

Forgestar is rectifying the situation by allowing me to ship them back for a full refund, but that is not what I really want to do. I really just want two new rear wheels that match the front because I really do like these wheels and they are a great buy. The left rear isn't that much of a different color, but it is a little darker than the front wheels, and I just can't live with that. The blemishes alone on the left rear should be enough for them to take the wheels back, though because I was expecting a "brand new" set of wheels. Mike, you are right. They look like a mixed set of used wheels, which is not what I paid for. If Forgestar was willing to provide me with two brand new rear wheels that match the front then I would be a content customer (except for having to wait almost 10 weeks by the time they would have arrived).

Mike at DDM is right about the lugnuts. It is that huge washer/flange thing on the stock lugnuts that causes the problem. The stock lugnuts would fit if it weren't for that.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback guys. At times I thought maybe I was seeing things (at least with the left rear) or being too pushy requesting that two new rears be made for me.

They should be rectifying the situation by giving you what you paid for OR allowing you to just return it all for a full refund. It shouldn't be "well, if you don't like it return it". They obviously screwed up here. The right rear is hideously different. Even the left rear would drive me F'n bonkers!

:iagree:

bad business practice to basically say "F-it, I don't want to fix it just send them back"

CrownR426 07-08-2009 10:11 PM

Wow, very disappointed @ Forgestar Rims...
This is making me reconsider and why the hell are they giving you an attitude?
I guess they don't need our business if they acted that way to you and they messed up.
They should've even offered to replace those rear's.
Messed up in my opinion and Caravanshaka, I hope all goes well with your shipment.
I will wait to see what happens to you before I make my final choice.

Keep in mind this is just one incident though. Sometimes miscommunications happen, bad things happen, blah blah. I meant what I said above about the guy with the problem wheels not accepting it in his case, but my order with them still stands, unless I see this develop into a pattern rather than an isolated incident.

joshj808 07-09-2009 01:36 AM

Hopefully you wont be the next one that starts the pattern.

This is very true. It could be that this is a case of me being that one person who gets a raw deal and has a bad experience with them. I think that I am the first person to get a set of F-14s on his 370z besides Mike @ DDM, so hopefully, like joshj808 said, this is not going to be the start of a trend when others start receiving their wheels.

Caravanshaka 07-09-2009 07:49 AM

Well, forgestar told DDmotorsports to tell people 2-3 weeks for their wait time to get wheels. Took Dave384 over 6 weeks for his wheels to be delivered, and they were done poorly. His I believe whas DDM's first order for the F14's besides his own wheels. That being said, I ordered mine on Monday June 8th, it is now July 9th and still no wheels. Last update DDM got on my order was that they were just now calling the pinstriper to setup and appointment. over 2 weeks ago my wheels were finished except for the pinstripe and the lug holes weren't drilled yet. 2 WEEKS AGO, and they are just now setting up the appointment with the pinstriper....

I have been very unimpressed with forgestar up to this point. Frankly, I'm going to keep the ups guy here when they arrive so I can check them out. If there is anything wrong with them they are getting returned to sender and I'm getting my money back.

M.Bonanni 07-09-2009 09:38 AM

I agree, that this is one incident as far as quality goes. There have been a lot of poeple who have gotten Forgestar wheels in all colors that are more than happy with them. Their blog is full of cars with Forgestars on them. The two sets that I have gotten personally have been perfect. The delay times are a whole other issue that nobody is happy about and Forgestar knows it. They are just going through the growing pains of being a new company that had quick success. Back when I first became a Forgestar dealer and ordered my set, wheels were taking 2-3 weeks, sometimes even less. Once they signed up more dealers and started getting their wheels on different cars for people to see it snowballed and they were flooded with orders. Needless to say, now I am quoting a longer wait time. I am not trying to make excuses for them, but it is an unfortunate side effect of a growing business that expanded too quickly for what they were prepared for. I know that Forgestar is just as frustrated with the delays as we are.

Scott@FontanaNissan 07-09-2009 10:12 AM

well said Mike!

I can vouch for these wheels...i've seen them up close and in person on Mike's car...I hope they can get this figured out quickly as they are a company with a lot of potential!

Scribe 07-09-2009 10:23 AM

I was actually looking to run the same exact wheels on my platinum graphite 370Z (nice car btw). I think I'll just get some Nismo wheels or something else.
