Head breaks off OE wheel lock!!!
After getting 29,000 miles out of my OE Yokahama tires on my 2010 370z Base Touring I got a set of Michelin Super Sports. Jacked up the car, put it on stands and went to the first locking lug and snap, the head of the lock breaks off. Signs of rust between the head and lug. Now what? I had a set of wheel lock extractors for when you have lost the lock key but none fit the small wheel lock on the car. Second thought, I found a 19mm 12 point socket fit snug over the broken lock. Hammered it on and locked on enough to spin it off. What a relief!! Got all wheels and tires mounted and balanced, back on the car w/o locks. Got 4 replacement oe lugs from nissan @ 5.50 each. Car handles great with new pilots.. Oh, by the way, my son says I don't run my car hard enough which he is probably right. I have read on this forum of only getting 10K on the oe's. I just wanted to get this tid bit out to you before people start hacking away at the wheel trying to get the broken lock off.
