245mm F and 285mm R ?? Anyone ever drive on Federal 595RPM's?
I've replaced the stock re050's with hankook v12's in the rear last year. i thought it was going to be awesome cause of the relatively cheap price for the tires and people were raving about them. then i realized it was a mistake because the tire sidewalls are soft and that means no feedback from the road, therefore a numb ride in the rear. i can't feel, at all, where the limit is when i'm pushing them. i also drift fairly frequently so the tires run down quickly. while i was at the tire shop today, i saw a set of 285/35/19 Federal 595RPM tires for $160 each. I've heard about Federal getting big, like how Hankook did, but I can't find more than a 1-2 vague reviews on them on honda forums so that's not saying much.
I'm just curious if anyone has driven on these tires before. Also, let's say I get them, how does running a 245/285mm setup feel? From what I understand, a bigger gap between the front and rear tires induces more understeer, which is why makes like Ferrari have setups such as 235 in the front and 325 in the rear to compensate for its tendency to oversteer with the engine in the back. It's just a 10mm difference in this case but if it makes a slightly negative impact, then i'm just going to stick to my original plans with getting nitto nt05's. Let me hear some answers from people who really push their cars. Thanks

Hi.
Fitted 265-35-19's front and 285-35-19's rear about 4 weeks ago on my 2011 370Z. First drive out car felt like tyre pressure was to soft... Contacted the tyre supplier's and got told to take pressure up to 3 bar / 43 psi, did that with no joy. I played around from 2.2- 3.5 bar/31-50 psi and no difference. I did about 600km's/370miles to scrub of the new tyre look to get to the sticky part, some hard driving, cornering, braking and drifting at it as well. Bottom line they are awesome if you like going side ways cause there is no grip, unpredictable, super soft sidewall, if you drive with vdc on your skid light flashes on every corner you take and hard acceleration, horrible under hard braking, wet roads are a blast( side ways) on the positive side they are quiet! I use Federal ss595's(595) on my daily drive 2004 350Z and have done 32 000 km's/20 000 miles so far and loads of tread left,I have used about 4 sets of 595RS-R's on my supercharged and track 2006 350Z awesome grip wet and dry( wish they made 19 inch in these) I even use their mud terrain 4x4 tyre on my off road truck, so I like the brand-just not RPM's. I now own tyres that's over rated on their website( misleading) Federal Tyres - Federal Motorsports - 595RPM and cant/wont sell to anyone, learn from my mistake and stay away from 595RPM's! Saving up for set of RE-11's. Cheers Last edited by G-SPOT; 09-29-2012 at 05:11 PM. |

you can fit a 305 on your stock wheels, which would help traction. i run a 305/30 on the back and i have to put in the effort to get them (V12's)to spin.

I'd like to run beefy 300+mm but I wouldn't if I weren't on the track. For street and drifting, the 275s are do the job and I want the wheels to spin when going slideways. My issue with the v12's is the soft sidewall so I don't have any road feedback, and therefore I can't feel the limit. There were a few oh **** moments because of that
