Slicks anyone? Please help sizing/info
Ok folks, so I've searched and did my due diligence as a responsible forum member but have not found anyone running slicks in our cars.
I'm talking about slicks for Drag Racing and NOT for Auto X or road racing. So because I have the sports package. I cannot run anything smaller than an 18 in. Rim. So there is no slicks avaiable for that tire size and went with Drag Radials. Problem is here in Guam, our track/launch pad is pathetic and very slippery and the fact that it is a coral/mix that not even prepped. So running DR's only helps past the 60ft and beyond. So I've done some research and I found that M&H makes slicks for a 17 inch wheel. Check site: 8.5/26.0-17 New Tire! Given these specs: •Tread Width: 8.5" •Section Width: 9.5" •Diameter: 26.0" •Circumference: 82.0" •Rim Size: 8.0" •Code: MHR-172 •Compound Type: HB-11 What should my 17 inch wheels specs be as far as width and offset so it will fit on my Z? If there are any other companies that makes slicks for 18s please let me know or if there alternative routes. I need to run slicks out here to be able to cut a good time and be able to put the power to the ground. Thanks in advance and +rep for those who help

I'm having the same problem, just shot my nitrous today and nearly spun out... The lanes weren't too good either way, but I'm sure some slicks will definitely help!

Cost to downgrade the rear brakes, rotors and lines. Then cost for rims and slicks. Almost 2K just to be able to run slicks at the track :-(

There's a guy down here in the valley that loans slicks out to Z's, maybe I'll see if I can get a hold of him.... I don't see the brakes being an issue. I just let the wheels start spinning and let go of the brake, and just travel forward as needed. And do it twice if needed... They won't get as hot as we'd like, but it's better than nothing lol
