Default New back tires needed: Continental OK?

Hi!

I need to replace my back tires. I received an interesting quite for the ContiSportContact 2 and ContiSportContact 5P.

Anyone can confirm this is a decent choice? For the 5P I need to wait a month, the Contact 2 is in stock. Contact 2 is OK?

I do roughly 30% in town, 50% highway 20% track.
Thanks.

You shouldn't run different tires front and back.

Yeah- keep the same type of tire, just get something fatter for the rear. Z's are way too powerful for their rear tires, hence your situation. Find some 285 or 295's if you can. Keep them inflated to 36.

Nothing wrong running two sets of tires front and back, plenty of people do it

Not preferred but nothing will happen if you do

I'm currently having to do this, and I hate it, oversteer like crazy, but that's because V12's suck anus.

OP, either get 2 tires that match your front, or buy 4 new. And if you're going the conti route, get the Conti DW. Don't go for anything less, especially if you track. (Which I hope you won't do with 2 different tires on... )

I like the DW's, not the greatest in terms of handling but low road noise

I will never run BFG KDW2's ever again though

I'm the same way about the V12's.

yea...stock yoko advan sports with id say 30% tread and new conti dw's in the rear were horrible. the car oversteered like crazy, wouldnt hold a straight line at speeds over 50mph.

swapped in some conti dw's on the front, voila. car drives like a champ. dont mix front and rears, different rubber compounds and all that make it a scary drive

I had a set of PSS' and loved them. But the rears wore out first, so I had to replace them. Didn't have enough $$ to get 2 more PSS', so I got a set of V12's. I won't ever run V12's by themselves after this point. My PSS Fronts still have about 50~% on them But I'll be getting a new set of PSS' in the fall. Great tires.

Thanks for the update!
I don't want to buy 4 tires for now so I'll buy 2 same as the front ones:
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. I think I'll take them in 285 or 295. Does that sound better?

I always inflate to 2.4kPA, I think it's equal to 36PSI.

I run idfferent front and and back for right now and theres no issues. Just dont run 2 extremely different types like summer tires front and track tires back..

I have the OEM bridgestone up front and the continental DW in the back.

I feel the same way about the V12's. The oversteer is just awful and it makes driving (especially highway) a chore.

They're good tires as far as wet grip and longevity, I just can't stand the way they ride.

I'll be going with the Continental's next.

Crap, they don't have any Bridgestone in stock anymore... I'll go there tomorrow morning and see what they can offer.
What are V12's BTW? Except from an engine type ;-)

Thanks for the help.

Just bite the bullet and buy better tires if you want to be fast on track. I guess you can track with any tires, but they are not going to be fast
