Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Is anyone running 245/40/19 Front x 295/35/19 Rear on a 370Z Sport Package?
Please comment.
Thanks!!!

Chan Chee Hoe 08-11-2012 08:47 PM

I think 295/35-19 is too big/wide for the rear...285/35-19 is better, but Michelin don't make this size.

Sport-370Z 08-12-2012 07:54 AM

According to Michelin's website the rim size range for a 295/35/19 is 10"-11.5" with a diameter of 27.1"

The 285/35/19 rim size range is 9.5"-11" with a diameter of 26.9".

Not much difference going from the 285 to the 295

Are fine with my base brake package. I have 255/35/19 and 295/30/19s . You could actually go to 305s on the rear if desired. The 295s look great and ride great.Attachment 52386 check out my album. Also my wheels are 9.5 and 11s, therefore anything less will have a slight stretch

XwChriswX 08-12-2012 05:45 PM

In my PSS set I ran 255/19/35 and 295/19/35. On 9.5/10.5 wheels with sport package. They look great. A much better sidewall than say V12's or the stockers.

Looking at potentially running a 265 up front next set.

37Z 08-12-2012 06:56 PM

What mileage has one experienced with these tires on the 370Z?

barto 08-14-2012 06:04 PM

Bump for mileage. Wife needs a new set of tires and she drives a ton! 13k miles on the car and its only been on the road for 6 months.

Isn't that too much stagger? 40 mm difference is a lot I think. I always thought to try to keep it < 30mm. Your insight is appreciated, thanks.

I wanted to do a 265 in the front, but at the time I thought it would rub so I stayed away, and I looked at doing a 285 in the back, but they didn't make that size so I went with the 295.

Next set will be a 265/295 now that I know it won't rub.

Bandit_Kaine 10-07-2012 04:11 PM

So 295/35-19 will fit on the stock rear rays and not rub? I'm planning on dropping my car on swift specs if it makes a difference. Will the tire be too wide for the rays?

zero 10-07-2012 07:28 PM

I am running 265/35 front and 305/30 rear on the TE37. I got them mounted a couple days ago. They look beefier than my old setup.

pfdaxe 10-15-2012 09:10 AM

Maybe I'm lazy, but can't find the exact answer to this:

I'm in the market for new treads and looking at 285/35/19 or 305/30/19 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT for the rear with either 265/35/19 or 255/35/19 or 245/40/19 up front. I'm on stock 19" sport Rays with 20mm spacers front and 25mm rear and stock height.

Which would be the best set-up? I would like to keep the speedo as accurate as stock.

Thanks :tiphat:

285/35-19 rear will be the best tyre size for our Z,but PSS don't have this size.

Actually they do as this local tire seller has some. They are "sport" so I don't know if there is a difference between these and "Super Sport". These are what I'm considering:

285/35/19 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT

MICHELIN PILOT 305/30/19

265/35/19 MICHELIN PILOT

cossie1600 10-16-2012 07:48 AM

That looks like a Pilot Cup to me

I may check them out. Seller states "sport", but we'll see

cossie1600 10-16-2012 08:17 AM

I believe they are called Pilot Sport Cups, check Tireracks website

Just checked Tirerack:

From checking tread pattern, they don't appear to be Sport Cups . They look like they are PS2 if you compare with this one and I checked a few other images:

335/25-20 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tire | Tires | Corvette Parts and Accessories

pfdaxe 10-16-2012 11:38 AM

Seller also has these:

285/35/19 MICHELIN PILOT PRIMACY

States "Pilot Primacy", but tread pattern is "Sport A/S".

cavemancan 10-16-2012 11:28 PM

I just installed the Pilot Sport PS2's on my car and they are great. Keep in mind they get grippier as you put temperature into the tire.

Front 265/35/19
Rear 285/35/19

On stock Rays

Just re-comfirmed with my S'pore dealer,no such size in my market, real strange.!

Pelican170 10-23-2012 11:38 AM

So, if one wants these on their stock rims, they have to move to a 295 in the rear, is that correct?

uh no. You can get the stock tire size put on your rim. What some of the guys are doing (which isn't all too bad of an idea, personal preference) is installing a more "meaty" tire on the car. A little wider and little taller. Also considered filling in the wheel well. I am looking at my next full set next year sometime and lookin for mileage out of these tires but nobody has put up mileage specs.

Oh, I was under the impression that you could fit a 295 on the rears.... So, can you please tell me why this wouldnt work? Sorry, tires and wheels I dont have much knowledge about...

roy'sz 10-23-2012 03:14 PM

You can fit it in the rear. You can kearn about tire info in tire.com. it will rell you what all the numbers mean.

Thanks. I do understand what the numbers mean but dont have experience of what will exactly fit on my rims. I thought i read that the 295 would fit on the rears but then you posted above and said they wouldnt fit, so i was confused.

This is correct.

They do not make these in a 285 which is what comes on your Nismo. But same for the sport package Z that comes with 275 in the rear. You can go to 295 or even 305 no problem. Although I wouldn't go too big unless you are in it just for looks and don't care for losing a little mpg's in the process un-related to how far you put down your right foot...due to increasing rotational mass. But if you go boosted you could use more meat to help put it to the ground.

Thank you for your help. I wouldnt want to go too big, just have an interest in these tires and wanted to be sure I could get them for if i decide to go with them... Thanks again..

I wonder 295/35-19{PSS got this size for BMW M5} rear, the front use stock size 245/40-19,any problem, because i felt 275/35-19 a tad too small.

Try the Yokohama Ad08 ADVAN Neovas. The 275/35/19 is wider than the stock 285 on the NISMO. Also lighter going wider means more rubber and weight. Tirerack states the are more like a 295. The replacement from sport stock is lighter by about 5 or 6 lbs.

How is a 275 wider than a 285? This is a mm measurement of the tire i thought?

To compound this issue, next year Michelin is going to release the "Super Duper Sport".

Well...I found and purchased a set of lightly used Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires yesterday. They're going on my stock Rays:

255/40-19 Front
285/35-19 Rear

All tires have about 80% tread with perfect beads and no repairs. I picked them up for $350 mounted & balanced!!! How could I pass up on such a deal ;)
