The use of spacers is a perfect case of form over function. Even good spacers (good = properly designed, properly manufactured, and properly installed) are dangerous in extreme situations and are no substitute for an engineered solution. Once you've seen a cracked or deformed spacer, you'll decide (hopefully!) that the look just ain't worth the risk. |
