It's a forged aluminum wheel.. it's not going to be shiny under the paint. I suggest having them chemically stripped and then either dipping them in chrome/nickle or polishing them by hand.

curiosity killed the cat and i took some paint off one of the rims and polished it with little effort to a mirror shine.so all i will have to do is take the rims and have the paint removed professionally and they will shine right up.

you dont want to do it yourself unless you have them professionally stripped as stated.then i would say about 5 hrs per wheel sanding smooth.you will need some kind of tool to get in the corners.too much work.20 hrs on 1 wheel just to get it to look descent is all i could take.

they will be taken to a shop where they will do it.....i do know they will shine beautiful when complete.normally i wouldnt be wasting my time on factory wheels.however with the 19" rays, the light weight is the reason im keeping them.so for $400,i can have some great lookin wheels.i would advise you to let the professionals deal with it or you will be hurting lol.even with aircraft stripper, the paint doesnt come off as you would expect.the 1 wheel i did do is 75% complete.

I would love to see pics of these when you get them back from the shop! I bet they'll look great.

be a couple of months cause performance mods are coming first.i will post pics when it gets done though to show you....even the one that is just 75% complete blings in the sun light.especially when moving slow.i promise you that they will look fantastic.once the 2 primers, paint and clear coat is removed.its just light wet sanding, then polish.alot more work than it sounds though.definitely need a hand held buffer and a tool to get in the corners.i have one part.case in point, these wheels will shine up to look like chrome no problem.

Looking forward to how these turn out in pics. This is the first I've seen of someone stripping the paint off our stock sports, which are extremely worthy wheels IMO.

yes, they are very worthy.the finish on these wheels was a little messed up from the previous owner anyway and i'm a perfectionist.they MUST look good !....

and here is a little tip for anyone that has polished aluminum wheels with no clear coat...you can maintain the finish on polished aluminum wheels no matter how messed up they look.

simply get some "3m rubbing compound A" .this stuff will take rust off of chrome.then simply wax the wheels for a longer lasting new looking finish.the eagle wheels i put on my wifes car over 6 years ago still shine like new because of this 3m rubbing compound.i do hers once a year and thats all i have to do.very good stuff.

A very good friend of mine has had the wheels done on his bikes, his custom wheels on his 65 Nova and the work this place does is just insane. Here's why I haven't done this yet, the upkeep and the fact that I went in a different direction with a few things in my business. I'm going Tuesday for a price and time frame. I will keep everyone up to date. I'm hoping it comes in under $200.00 a wheel.

Default No After-market?

Seems like for the time and money spent brightening up your OEM wheels, investing in a set of after-market wheels makes more sense. You can get a truly unique look with a finish of your choice. Just my $0.02...but it's what I'm going to do to my baby.
