How much performance is lost when you switch to 20" rims?

I've been debating with myself against 19" TE37sls and 20" Work Gnosis GS2s.

I think the work wheels are about 10lb heavier per wheel. Aside from the weight. What other cons are there to using a bigger wheel?

10lb per wheel is significant.

cost of 20" tires vs 19" tires. the 20's will ride a little rougher, not sure how noticeable the difference is though.

ck the gross weight (wheel and tire) and compare with your stock. if over 5lbs you will definitely feel it (some in acceleration, but more in handling and braking).

depends also on the total weigh of wheel+tires. if the total weight is the same as the stock wheel+tire. then you wont loose much. if its 10 punds per corner performance will be affected alot

On the Z's we should really be using 18's not 19's and definetly not 20's rofl...
It's like an olympic runner with heav yass shoes that look nice compared to some lightweight shoes that look okay.
In the end it comes down to owners preference.
But I'd sure hate losing to cars I should beat.

A quick search gave me this:

370Z Stock weights:
Sport 19×9.0: 23.20 lbs (10.52 kg)
Sport 19×10.0: 23.80 lbs (10.80 kg)

TE37SL 19x9.5" +22: 20.4 lbs
TE37SL 19x10.5" +22: 20.8 lbs.

The Gnosis are about 32 lb.

So I go from saving 3lb to adding 9lb. Would my wheels be more prone to damage due to the thinner tire profile?

so damn nice.

I think I covered this subject a couple of times. Since I got nothing better to do. The larger the wheels/tires, the slower the car gets(gear ratio). For those with 22" wheels, beating a 4 cyl. Altima will be a problem.....Plus the weight difference......

Just add more HP and you'll be fine. The GT-R's have no problem running 20's. Neither do I.

Gear Ratio doenst' change unless you change the rolling diameter. With larger wheels you should actually be lowering your side walls.

Weight aside, you're be paying more for your tires, your tires won't last as long. You'll curb your rims more easily and if you hit a pot hole the chance of you bending your rim is much greater cause there is a lot less rubber and air to cushion it. And as mentioned above your ride is gonna be a bit harsher.

^Only thing you are wrong about though is tires.. 20" tires are way cheaper than 19's usually. You can thank all the Donks for that.

the flatspotting of the wheels would be my biggest concern with super lp tires..... it happens, then in a few years the wheels are discontinued and instead of replacing one you are buying 4. mind u, forged wheels are more impact resistant and some of us deal with nicer roads than others.
