Tire size question, about to buy the Michelin PSS
I currently have the Rays 19 " wheels stock Potenza RE050As with 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear. Stock suspension also. I would like to go a little wider, especially in the rear without changing the height, stance of the car too much. Haven't decided about spacers yet. What would be a good choice in tire sizes for what I want. Thanks.

I went with 285s when I got my non-PSS tires but that was mainly because that's what they had in stock. I will probably go with 295s next to see the difference, although I haven't ruled out some 15mm or 20mm spacers instead. There are some guys who have gone up to 305s in the rear and decided they were a good fit w/o spacers but too much with spacers.

Thanks for the replies. Okay, If I go with 305s in the rear, what should I go with for the fronts and what sidewall sizes to to maintain the current height ratio between front and rear. I kind of like the idea of increasing the width and decreasing the space between the wheel well without using spacers. With the 305s would I have any problems with wear ie:: the stock camber settings etc? Thanks again

If it isn't your DD do whatever you want and whatever look you are trying to achieve. However if it is your DD your mpg's will suffer...so how much is it worth to you to have that look?
As far as what to throw up front with 305 out back. Some are running 255 in front with 305's. You could go up to 275 in front as I have heard it being done...and from what I recall without rubbing. But that seems extremely wide in the front not to rub. |

If you're on stock Sport wheels it's not recommended to go wider than 285/35 on the rear for a proper bead seal. There are a number of people that are going wider than that, but unless you go with a 10.5" wheel in the rear I wouldn't suggest it, FWIW.
Oh yeah, unfortunately PSS don't come in 285/35. And.....PSS FTMFW!

Okay kind of sounds like I should just stick with the stock sizes 245/40 and 275/35 and just consider spacers if I want a wider look. Can I just put spacers on the rear and if so what size? The front looks fine but I just want to have the edges of the rears closer to the fender edges. The stock set up just has a little too much over hang if that makes sense. I have only had the car about a month so I guess I am still used to the rear look of my 350 Z that I traded in which had the rear tires out to the edge of the fender more.
