How does your Z ride on 20's??
Hey Guy's.
I'm thinking I might start looking at 20's instead of 19's. Here in Australia we only get the 18's. Before I start looking for the 20's, I just wanted to hear some feedback as to how the 20's ride? Real bumpy? Crashy ride? Smooth? No real differance to 19's? Also how do they look if you don't lower ride height? I look forward to your feedback. Thanks |

Its not so much the diameter of the wheel but more the profile/makeup of the tire that determines ride quality/harshness. You can 17" wheels that ride worse than 20" wheels if the profile is more agressive.
If you want a very similar ride to stock then get 20" wheels with tires in the same brand and profile as stock. |

You can't get 20's with the same profile tires as stock and keep your tire diameter close to stock. If you run 275/35/20 in the back you are going to throw off your speedometer and your TCS/VDC which is only going to cause problems.

One thing to consider is whether you want a pimped out ride, or a performance ride. 20" wheels willbe heavier and have a higher moment of inertia, decreasing your acceleration. It will also increase your overall unsprung weight and the extremely short sidewalls have so little compliance that on big bumps, the sidewall can't compress enough and when the tire comes off of the bump, you get a momentary reduction in traction. This causes you car to feel unsettled on midcorner bumps, causing you to run wide in corners and increase lap times.

Its comfortable if you want it to be, its all in tire size and tire choice, naturally the higher more sticky tires will have alot harder side walls, or if you end up stretching your tires.
