Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy an old POS corolla to use as a winter beater than buy dedicated winter wheels/tires? Not to mention the rust and probability of wipe-out

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy an old POS corolla to use as a winter beater than buy dedicated winter wheels/tires? Not to mention the rust and probability of wipe-out with RWD.
I live in MN and if I drove this thing in the winter, it would be rusted through in 5 years. Just my $0.02... |

Rust isn't a big issue with today's modern cars. I've had many cars through many Chicago winters and none of them have had rust issues. (mmmm, my land rover defender's muffler rusted through actually, but that sounded sweet)
For any city dweller, buying a POS car as a beater isn't feasible as the parking fees alone would quickly cost more than a set of rims/tires. |
