Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy an old POS corolla to use as a winter beater than buy dedicated winter wheels/tires? Not to mention the rust and probability of wipe-out with RWD.

I live in MN and if I drove this thing in the winter, it would be rusted through in 5 years.

Just my $0.02...

Rust isn't a big issue with today's modern cars. I've had many cars through many Chicago winters and none of them have had rust issues. (mmmm, my land rover defender's muffler rusted through actually, but that sounded sweet)

For any city dweller, buying a POS car as a beater isn't feasible as the parking fees alone would quickly cost more than a set of rims/tires.

I don't think it would be cheaper and I'm just not one of those guys that subscribe to the winter beater philosophy. My 350Z saw all 4 seasons for 4 years with a dedicated wheel/tire setup for winter and that worked fine for me. That's why I'm planning on doing the same with the 370.

+1 on the rust aspect; nothing major over here either with past cars. Parking wouldn't be an issue for me with a beater; I just don't like the idea of driving a POS car during winter when I can drive a great car like the Z just fine with a good winter setup and some common sense :driving:
