how many miles are people getting out of their re-11s?
I was pretty set on getting re-11s when the time comes to replace but talking today with a shop guy who was installing swifts and dynamat in my car got me to possibly considering nt05s. He's not saying the nt05s are better, just that they are still really good tires and will last longer and cost less than the re-11s. I know the re-11s are grippier, just wondering how many miles people are getting out their re-11s and in what kind of conditions; dd, some track, heavy track, autox. Are your front tires lasting a lot longer than the rears?
|
If I recall correctly, NT05s don't come in 19s.
I got about 7500 miles out of my first set of front tires, 200 autox runs and 8 track days or so. The rears were at a little over 2/32nd at the same time I have about 7000 miles on my second set. Fronts have about 3-4 /32nd and rears have slightly more. They do have less autox (125) and track time (4) while more street driving. You wear your fronts quicker if you do a lot of street driving or you spend a lot of time understeering. |
7500 isn't too bad considering how much autox and track you were doing. I'm surprised your fronts are saying faster than your rears. I'm still on my stockers, but the readers are wearing out much quicker and it's mostly dd driving. I was hoping to get 10 -15k out of them from dd (less with track). Also hoping I'd not have to replace the fronts as often.

I just noticed on tirerack that the stock re050As have a treadwear rating of 140 and the re-11s are rated 180. Does that mean that might last longer?
|
I take things pretty easy on the street, so I dont get much wear on the road. On the streets, you usually use more front tires than back. I have half tread maybe 40% now, starting to get sketchy in the rain

I got 16k. Only one drag strip run and agressive street driving.

See the review I just added to the re-11 sticky. There's a reason they get a praise sticky.
I'd credit mine with 20k+ street miles. My miles include many autox and track days, and they are excellent performers. |
^damn 20K miles what type of PMCS are you doing?:rofl2:
|
I did not see that sticky. Mods feel free to kill this thread. I knew they were great tires, but I heard you only get like 10k out of them so i was curious. I will read up on that sticky thread now.

i am surprised onzedge hasn't started a rival PSS tire thread sticky yet, haha.

The Michelin is not a rival tire. It is a tire that trade for some extra life. It's like comparing a MX-5 to a 370z. They are both good tires in their own rights, just different purpose. If you want to get the last 2 secs at the track, go with the Bridgestone. If you want the extra 10K miles on the road, go with the Michelin. The AD08 is a competitor to the RE11, not the PSS. The Pilot CUPS on the other hand is a little better when new.

I'm about 9k on mine so far, still running strong

I've got around 1,000 miles on mine, just measured and the tread depth is the same as new. They are a great tire: I could not believe how sticky they were in hard canyon driving and are extremely forgiving at the limit.
I definitely understand why they get so much praise! |
