Takata green TE37's does look good on a black 370z.

Argos 06-18-2009 12:20 AM

that green is a little much

Freshhxkid 06-18-2009 05:26 AM

Eww who ever does that is a ricer period!!!

MightyBobo 06-18-2009 07:40 AM

It burns mein eyes!

nogoodname 06-18-2009 08:37 AM

it's a nice set of rims but lime green is sooooo ugly.....does not match any colour Z at all.

black it out...lol.......if you really want green...black out the rims and put a green pin stripe and paint the calipers the same colour....

MightyBobo 06-18-2009 08:57 AM

I know what they are shooting for, but its dumb.

http://www.motorauthority.com/images...thority008.jpg

Let it go, guys.

Slow*Jim 06-19-2009 10:57 AM

I think it looks great - maybe I am a ricer at heart.

nogoodname 06-19-2009 11:02 AM

maybe you are, colour match the calipers at least

RCZ 06-19-2009 11:31 AM

Takata green is too JDM for most folk to understand.

nogoodname 06-19-2009 11:33 AM

^^ because it's ugly, why not yellow or orange rims

My Camero mullet is fighting it with all its might!

RCZ 06-19-2009 09:28 PM

I have always though it is ugly, I dont like it. But its such a JDM thing that people kinda learn to love it. I guess its an acquired taste for true JDM fans.

nogoodname 06-19-2009 09:32 PM

why is it JDM taste, do the Japanese Domestic Market have bad taste in rim colours

BMW Killa 06-19-2009 09:37 PM

I think it looks good for what it's worth.

no, they just have different customs and traditions than you do. Its more of a hardcore jdm racer thing from Volk that has been transported into the tuning world. Just like the beloved "time attack" scheme... except you probably like that one a bit more..

... ask and you shall receive. Volk Racing does make an Orange color from the factory. I've seen both TE37 and CE28n in that color. Also, I believe on specific Gram Lights, you can order a color called "Luminous Yellow." It comes from their line of wheels that a lot of drifters are into.

I do 5-6 autocross events a year and 8-9 track events with NASA... caliper paint wouldn't last very long!

CrownR426 06-20-2009 04:42 PM

:wtf2:
I don't want to see that on a black car especially the rims...

1.) Black on Black
2.) Black on Gold
3.) Black on Gunmetal.
Good day! :tiphat:

biggestbob 06-23-2009 06:19 PM

JDM this JDM that. Don't care who makes them. It is just plain tacky for daily driving use. But for the track its fine because there are worse things on the track (function over form). But lets not bring down the Z's value by driving around town with those. Keep those on civics and corollas! Sorry, don't mind me, just had to get it off my chest.

shabarivas 06-23-2009 06:42 PM

This is the last crap that japan shat out recently - you guys gonna copy this next and say its cool cus its JDM yo?

1No. I'll say that's cool because it is. Sextup exhaust and poop scoop bumper!! JDM 4 Life!!

DannyGT 06-24-2009 01:08 PM

That transformers scion has cali plates...I think cali JDM = cali rice.

how about powdercoating them ??...costs more but durable and will match the green'ness

BamBam 08-20-2009 01:00 AM

I personally wouldn't go for the green rims, but I'd love to see them on someone else's car and I think they'd look crazy as hell, which is what they're supposed to do. You want people to remember your car and stuff if you're tracking it, esp. if there's an opportunity for sponsorship, so the green will do that. I just know if I were driving it much, I'd feel out of place in it. But saying someone's opinion is wrong when it comes to wheel color isn't cool at all. If they're suggesting you stick babies on spikes then you can say their opinion is wrong, wheel color is a matter of taste.

Also, forum rules on here make it clear to be as constructive as possible, it's okay not to like something, but to imply someone is stupid because they do isn't cool.

dainedazz 08-20-2009 01:54 PM

lol i'm a JDM fan but i aint feeling & NEVER liked ORANGE or GREEN rims

Bronze or Gold MESH design is me all day.

if i want to keep it simple, Chrome Lip on 5 Spoke BLACK rims.

:p

my b13 back in the islands, just thought i'd share it lol sorry if im getting off topic.

Ryan@Forged 08-20-2009 02:01 PM

Just FYI the Takata Green is not an available color from Volk anymore. It was a limited time color and unless you know someone privately selling them you won't be able to get them anymore. They are not available for special order at all. This may help you to make a decision. :)

Zerafian 08-20-2009 10:27 PM

I think it looks good, anything goes with black. The hard part will be adding to the car with green rims

tbonesteak 08-21-2009 01:37 AM

if the car was modded a bit more instead of just the wheels, takata green is HAWWWT. You just gotta be able to pull it off.

buy them and powdercoat them to the green :icon14:

Damon 08-23-2009 05:00 PM

^even though some hate on it, i liked colored wheels. i have a set of "takata green" wheels i have yet to put on my sti because i havnt had the money to buy freaking tires yet. :(

its different strokes for different folks, but i like color. it can set you apart and be different.

wtf yellow ? Maybe if you're talking about that drift lexus/highlighter color yellow and if so how is the green too much but a radioactive yellow isn't ? The Takata green wheels look awesome IMO but I don't think they are that bright.

Luv'n my Z 10-01-2009 05:16 PM

I think those rims and color is beat but you should throw on a pair of those with that magnesium blue. Those look sick on a black Z.

He was being sarcastic......

Mark my words and save this post right here people...

This is the new look. Black/gold/white/silver/gunmetal wheels are on their way out. In the next few years time attack and track cars will replace show cars. Agressive aero will replace smooth subtle body kits. Bright in your face colors will replace the monotone black/silver/white. Lap times will replace 1/4 mile times. It will be no headliner, not suede headliner. Wings not spoilers. 1-piece wheels, not 3-piece wheels. Viva la revolution!

Save your black on black for when 2006 comes back into style! :D

I think the days of big body kits is gone, simple clean cars will never be out of style. Most show cars are just wanna be track cars anyway from what all the shows look like now, just a bunch of racing parts on a car that never sees the road.

Completely agree. I have been into this look for a while now..clean and simple.

carfr3ak 10-03-2009 07:53 PM

At least hes not putting carbon fiber overlays on his car to make it seem like he has CF body parts. This is the ultimate form of posing, yet it's very widely accepted on this forum(IMO, unfortunately).

So if you guys accept people faking things that they don't have, I say let him make his rims green. At least he is not making his body panels look like something its not.

If only you guys were so outspoken against carbon fiber overlays...

sloterg 10-03-2009 09:14 PM

if you know how to make it look right then theres no reason to do it..

i looked at the 350 with that takata green and i couldnt stop looking at it..

it looked so subtle then BAM it slaps ur eyes with that green..

and the weird thing is i kinda liked it ;)

anyways JDM imo is waaaaaaay ahead of us when it comes to designs that why a lot of us cant accept and like it..

Judgement day is inevitable
